Good Books
By:
Hello everyone, I was wondering if any of you knew of any good books that could be used as a sort of curriculum to magick. The other day I realized that while I have been practicing magick for a number of years, I have mostly been going off of personal experience and experimentation, but I may have missed some keys basics or more advanced stuff that I could be using. So now that I am thinking that I want to get more serious in the craft I want to make sure all of my "bases" are covered and get some more traditional teaching. So I guess what I am directly looking for are
-Intermediate studies books that cover all of the basics but go into some good detail
-Intermediate level books for Green and White Magick
- Probably some basic ritual books (I have no experience with this stuff)
- A good book on terms, herbs, gems, candles, equipment, etc. (for reference, I'm forgetful lol)
- Any good links to places with book lists
- A book on Sigils
- And a book on Runes (mostly for enchanting, not really for fortunes)

I am really looking forward to adding some good stuff to my library, it'll make constructing my official BoS easier. Thank you all for reading and I greatly appreciate any responses.

You can try these books -

Mastering Witchcraft by Paul Husan

This book presents all the basics, including consecrating and charging tools, ritual preparation, tips on spellcasting, and some very useful talismans, amulets and sigils as well as some basic divination methods and some not-so basic methods such as a conjuration of the demon prince Vassago from the Lemegeton (Lesser Key of Solomon) and some old Kabbalistic spells as well, many derived from the old grimoires. This one is very straight forward!

The Master Grimoire

The Master Grimoire is the definitive magical cookbook with thousands of recipes to keep cauldrons bubbling with delight. The is the definitive compendium of herbs, oils, and incenses for ritual ingredients, baths, tinctures, perfumes, sachets. Magical applications include candle magick technique and annointing oil, powders, potions, floorwashes, talismans, charms and enchantments.

Christopher Penczak has 4 books set up like college classes that I love.

The Inner Temple of Witchcraft
The Outer Temple of Witchcraft
The Temple of Shamanic Witchcraft
The Temple of High Witchcraft

If you are looking for intermediate, I suggest one of the 2 in the middle.

I recommend all Scott Cunningham's books! Also 'The Crystal Bible' by Judy Hall. Have a browse on amazon or such and search in what subject book you want, i.e herbs. Remember to look at the reviews before buying, you don't want to buy a crappy fluffy book. (;

I really think we should have a list of books on the newbie section for newcomers. It would make life so much easier for the explorers who come to the site because they are eager to learn.

I'd advice Scott Cunningham's "Book of Shadows". It covers a lot of the basics in most of the areas you mentioned.
