i thought this post was forgotten -_-
anyway...
ok, as for what one said using science, elements are basically a single form of an atom grouped together, so, just take iron, which is not an element (please correct me if i am wrong), and basically separate every atom, looking for the atoms that make gold... or is it molecules, eh i forget
anyway, thats that
now, matter cant be created or destroyed, but i never really heard anything about altered
next...
maybe it was a necklace, who knows
and for those who say dabbling shouldnt be done... true
but, what is a person who studies and practices magick, if they only stick to one branch of magick, is that really a true mage???
and, correct me if you wish, i actually invite it ^_^

The Philosopher's Stone is a spiritual enigma referring to one who has purged himself of all carnal dross thereby becoming a transmutation of Oneness into the Father of all thought forms (Ie.., the universe according unto our finite minds' conception), and therefore possessing the "powder of projection", which is Highest Magic which brings about the realization of Faith.

The Philosopher's Stone is a supposedly mythical stone that can turn base metals (lead or iron) into higher metals (gold or silver). It was one of the main ideas created by alchemists and was also told be an elixir of immortality. After the thoughts on the philosopher's stone were spread, many people thought that alchemists were crazy and that began the decline of alchemy. It is also a symbol, a circle inside a square inside a triangle. Even though it is a supposed myth, I believe there could be a way to create this mythical item, and it will change the world forver once it's secret is made public.

The philosophers stone can turn heavy metals into gold and if eaten it will make you immortal. I also read that it might make you crazy.

First of all, this post is six years old. Repeating what was said six years ago does very little to add to the credibility in your belief in fairy tales.

Second of all, to expand upon what I said above, the concept of the philosopher stone left people viewing alchemy as nonsense because it is a metaphor, not to be taken literally. Beyond this, it was part of alchemists' and mystics' "portfolio," or the books and experiments that they used to be hired by people of wealth and means. Often without such myths within their bodies of works, they would not be hired by foolish greedy folks, and they would not have been able to advance their exploration in more rational, realistic sciences. It was a symbol representing change, science, and knowledge as much as it was a long con used to acquire funding.

It most certainly does not provide immortality, and there is no magical means to transform metals into other metals. People once thought that mercury made you immortal as well. However ingesting it makes you slowly descend into madness and die horribly. Take this as an example of the reality of things, and the general foolishness of clinging to belief rather than the principles of observation and reasoned understanding that alchemy helped found.

As mentioned above, the philosopher stone, in modern magical alchemy, is a concept of change and transformation. It is sacred in that it represents the fact that all things grow and change to some degree or another. Alchemy was not wholly discarded, it just grew, evolved, and changed into the concept of modern science throughout the Age of Reason. Mysticism was abandoned in favor of rational experimentation and theories based on controls, variables, and detailed analysis of said experimentation. Metals can now be transformed through science, realizing the dream of the philosopher's stone, but this is done in the laboratory rather than through magical means. Immortality is a myth, but modern medicine as developed through science (as it was begun within alchemy) is forever extending the life expectancy of men and women throughout the world.

One's approach to spiritual alchemy should follow this example; cling not to the past, but instead grow, change, and adhere to practical reason within your studies and experimentation. This, after all, is the core meaning of the philosopher's stone.
