I have, personally, never met the spirit, or magician capable of of bringing me harm unless I let it. If it is at all for absorbing the energy, or using it later, I can tell you it's not worth it. The universe already offers up any and every bit of energy you need. Again, if this is what you want to do, it can be a long walk.
Psst...not to be a jerk, but spirits aren't objects. And it shouldn't be getting them to astral that's the problem.
