Hello and Blessed Be...

Before I begin, please know to any readers that I hold the most full and utmost respect towards all Paths of Faith. But today during a lesson in my Biology class, something my teacher stated made me stop and reflect on parts of my own new faith.

So...today my teacher discussed the more specific ways on how illegal drugs kill certain cells. As she was discussing, she noted that the early Native Americans were rumored to have taken hallocinogenic drugs before going on with their "vision walks". I immediately paused--from my knowledge I knew she actually meant the rituals and religious views of Shamans. My heart holds full admiration for this path: I hold nothing against it at all. But, she continued and said that the ancients would meet their "Spirit Guides" under the influence of substances illegal to us today.

My question is...are Spirit Guides real..or truly just an illusion? I find it very strange that my Power Animal is the Owl and it has made physical appearances to me while I needed protection and while I was in distress.

I am just as baffled and confused as you. Please help me clarify this.

I apologize for any inconviences.
