Someone ask me how to carve tapered candles for rootwork. It's fairly straightforward.

Grab the candle of your choice. Color is important. What you end up carving into the candle depends on your Job and the size of the candle. I like bigger candles because I can fit more things on it, but sometimes I don't have access to larger ones.

Let's say you're using a candle as thick as a quarter and you're trying to do a Follow Me Boy Job. Carve Follow Me Boy vertically down one side of the candle and your target's name down the other (if the candle is long enough). I also like to add a date by which I'd like the Job to take effect or I just carve the word "NOW" into the candle. Just use a sigil for each of these things if you feel sigils are more powerful or the candle isn't large enough.

Take your candle that you're going to use for your Job and set it on your altar. Pour some hoodoo oils that are related to your Job (follow me boy, blockbuster, road opener, etc.) onto your hands and massage thoroughly into the candle. Pray to your God or spirits or enact your spell by binding the oil to the candle and bless the candle to do the Job you're after. Let the candle dry on your altar. Prepare any other ingredients while you do this.

Your candle should be all set to go.
