Mostly all "magical items" are only necessary in the beginning when you are starting out. Their sole purpose is for focus; creating an anchoring point for you to focus on to strenghten yourself. After you've done it for the nth time, most of the items can be discarded and are no longer necessary; altars, athames, etc... Usually when one gets to this point, they will be summoned to the realm of that particular god/dess that they are working with and all of the items will be there for them in that temple. But just start out small and do your best. The deity, demon or whatever that you're working with will understand what you are doing and "see" your intent and grant you plenty of lee-way....
