Homeopathy
By:

One reason in particular for starting up this post, it's not a well discussed topic on this platform, and it is something of a future set of goals of mine to obtain Homeopathic credentials. For now be advised i am not a certified doctor and any and all information provided in this post are for your entertainment purposes only, not for medical advice, suggestion's, or persuasion's to act on or encourage unlawful use of medical practice.

What is Homeopathic?

  1. An alternative medical practice that believes in our self guided ability to cure the root of our illness using little to no puncture's, cut's, or surgeries.
  2. Diluting extracts of poisonous plants to create treatments.
  3. Botanical study, Biochemistry, Anatomy, Psychological studies, are but a few needed area's of certification not limited to those of your own specific practice type.
  4. Using affirmations and locating rooted psychological problems to cure the physicalproblems of the body.
  5. Being able to heal using the least invasive, toxic, and most natural methods possible.

Becoming a certified homeopathic advisor/practice requires time and dedication to properly educate yourself, as well as all the steps required by your governments for a license in your area. Finding the online schooling is more a matter of choice to that of your area of study or whats legally required and offered. Even after the school portion you still want to keep up on new studies, seminars, and meetings to keep up on the always changing data.

Obviously, each practice and belief to its own. I am personally against homeopathy and as a healer I try to avoid it as much as possible in my practice. From my perspective, a substance that causes a like effect to the one trying to be erased is in no way suitable to be a healing potion or to be used in such a purpose.

I do know people who healed themselves using homeopathy and I do believe in the placebo effect it has on people, so there is no argument there, however, potentization makes no sense to me whatsoever and I see no benefit of it as nature already provides all the ways in which we can heal or help our bodies heal faster and a better success rate than ever. So I'd rather use a natural cure with proven effects and add placebo effect on top of that instead of just basing myself on that effect only.

It is quite an interesting topic you have brought up and I am sorry if I sounded dismissive. Then again, this is my opinion based on my practices and it does not convey absolute truth, but more of a personal one and I wanted to bring to the discussion the other perspective upon homeopathy.

Homeopathy is backed by working science, its not all about the belief in the method, though it is considered a part of the healing process. Those with heavy allergies may turn to this alternative and again it's also science. The process of creating a cure through dilution of toxic herbs/plants is also backed by science, and you have to have certain degree's of education and experience to administer. A good example of animals doing this naturally is as a pupil under those with more practiced hands the location was known for silverleaf nightshade growth. When the goat's had upset stomachs they would nibble on the herb lightly and instead of the intense effects normally produced by this herb it would appear to relieve the symptoms. Homeopathy is not all Jedi mind tricks, this is why you need so many types of certifications to properly practice the medical path.

I am not getting into a debate. There is no scientific evidence that homeopathy works.

There is a youtube link here for those who would like to understand the pseudo-science behind homeopathy.

-some- of the philosophies behind homeopathy have a level of merit, but it is often grossly mis-applied by modern adherents. The basic premises and philosophies can be sound. But we're talking about the deep roots that created the basis of the practice and have since been largely ignored.

All things are poison, it is only a question of dose. The key is to find the correct dose to be safe *but still have consequence*. No chemical, be it natural or manufactured, gets stronger the more it is diluted. The purpose of dilution is specifically to weaken a chemical. That is what makes it safe, not what makes it 'work'.

Check the labels of any 'certified' homeopathic supplement and it will give the concentration as a number followed by an X(x10)or a C(x100). The letter is the ratio, and the digit is the number of times that solution has undergone the process.

For example 10C means you take one unit (one drop, one cup, one litre, etc) and dilute it with 100 times that amount (100 drops, 100 cups, 100 litres). You then agitate and mix it around, remove one unit from that dilution (one drop again, one cup, etc) and put -that- into another 100 times dilution. Mix it, remove one unit, and repeat ten times. After only two or three repetitions it is very literally like putting a drop of salt into a lake of fresh water. Then that is of course separated into two ounce ampouls and sold at ten-or-so dollars a pop. The likelihood that you are getting even a single molecule of the substance is, well, let's just say you can save yourself some money and drink a glass of water from your tap. It is more likely to have a trace of the herb you are looking for in it because rain once fell on the living plant, went back to the oceans, became rain again, and fell into your local water table*.

Modern homeopaths are selling purified water unless they manufacture their own, or are incredibly careful of their sources.

like cures like; this is sometimes true. In some circumstances, introducing a compound that creates symptoms similar to what is being experienced can help. This is because it stimulates the body into reacting more potently to the issue. For example capsaicin has a numbing effect because it essentially overloads the nerves with stimulation, acting as an irritant that drives the nerves to shutting down. Menthol has an icy-hot effect because it stimulates rapid increase of surface blood flow. The skin gets hot quickly, which makes things touching your skin feel suddenly cold. Like moisture evaporating off. Cloves irritate mucous membranes, causing numbness as a result just like capsaicin.

The reactions are chemical, a result of the body reacting to their presence. If diluted too much there is nothing to react to.

Natural sources can be safer/have fewer reactions. ... When used and applied safely and correctly. Whole herbs have natural buffers- additional chemicals hitching a ride with the ones that give the desired effects. These chemicals tend to balance or reduce the side effects by taking off the edge, reducing the potentialncy, or degrading/breaking down the medically reactive molecule faster than it would without. But this is not always the case, every source needs to be treated individually, and from a basis of legitimate research. Herbs are still chemicals, and can still very easily cause a great deal of harm. Side effects might be milder, but that is the limit of the benefit.

Personally I blame the prevalence of MLM/pyramid scheme companies who have invaded the alternative medicine communities offer the decades. Their aggressive claims, misinformation, and frankly screwed-up research or outright false interpretations used to swindle people into buying in. And then perpetuated by those people trying to sell the products they just spent their savings to acquire, in the hope they might break even.

All of this makes proper education and study very important indeed. Also, being careful on the sources of that education.

*I disagree with the barbs thrown in this video but the person(Dr. Samuel Conway), a chemical engineer, does a very good job of explaining the fallacy of just how insane the dilution method is. It is worth a watch;

https://youtu.be/X4dhaPbPOps

The video is an hour and a half, and goes over a few different topics. Like how companies use ignorance in terminology to their advantage. An easy example being the difference between FDA tested versus FDA proven. The bit about homeopathy starts around the one hour mark, for those wanting to skip ahead. Seriously though, the whole thing is worth watching if you want to understand how businesses exploit people looking for wholistic solutions of any sort.
