Shadow Work

I have been re-immersing myself in chakras and shadow work. What are some words of affirmations you use and what sort of shadow questions do you ask yourself? Does anyone have experiences with ego-death?

I don't use affirmations much because I feel uncomfortable, but when I do use affirmations, it's because I'm trying to push through that discomfort. [example, back when I struggled with self-image, looking myself in the eye in the mirror and saying "I am beautiful just the way I am" was impossible, but in some instances, you need to go through it to heal] Currently, the ones I use are "I am power" and "I am enough."

As for shadow work questions, it really depends on what you're trying to accomplish. Unless I have a question in mind, I tend to google shadow work prompts to get the ball rolling. Otherwise, I tend to write a phrase and work through it [example "I'm dumb" I would write out why I feel dumb, then ask another leading question like "why does memorize facts equate to intellect?" and I would work through that, and whatever answer there I would ask another leading question until I reach the root of the issue] Other times, I might have a feeling or a memory come up and I just start writing about it and see where the rambling takes me.

Does anyone have experiences with ego-death?

A little, shocking to some on this site, I don't really have much of an ego [certain topics, yes, most topics, no] So on the rare occasion I felt threatened by someone being better than me, I sit with that and work through it and realize it's my ego and I need to humble myself. That sounds much sweeter than the long stubborn process of denial and anger I'm forced through by my deities resulting in me crying and miserable, but if everyone's ego's the same, you will become defensive and push back hard or come to terms with the fact the ego is ruling a situation. I will say the clarity you feel after that break is wonderful, like a breath of fresh air after a terrible cold.
