Superglue crystals?

Can you superglue crystals back together without interfering with their magickal properties and if you can, do you recommend it?

I have been working with crystals for a few years now and recently bought a new amethyst necklace. It broke a few days ago when it fell off my vanity. I have a few ideas on what to do but wanted to ask around before doing anything.

Your advice is much appreciated!

This is a little bit of a tricky one as it can depend on point of view. Aesthetically, there's no problem as you can trim/buff smooth any lumps or bumps, and superglue does hold pretty firmly. So if you connect with Crystals by their looks and the thoughts/emotions they inspire then it'll do just fine. At the worst, instead of having the effect of one larger stone you will have the effect of two smaller ones. So either way you don't lose out on much.

If you consider the natural energy of Crystals, then the crystal matrix has been broken and introducing a polymer like superglue (which is an insulator) would provide a physical bond, but not an energetically conductive one. It would be like trying to glue the ends of two wires together to fix an electric circuit.

A better solution would be if you know anyone with some metallurgical tools, or if you are familiar with a few techniques yourself. As long as the crystal can withstand a few seconds of high heat, you could put a drop of molten copper or some other conductive metal on the crystal and smush them together. Another option would be to get some fine wire and do a wire-wrap across the crack if it is at enough of an angle to tie the pieces together and have it hold.

Personally I was taught that if a crystal breaks, especially when it comes to points coming free of a cluster, then it is a message that someone you know needs help that the crystal can provide. It has become divided so you can give a piece to that person. Maybe consider turning the broken-off piece into a second pendant so you can share it with someone who needs the support your stone offers.
