I'm glad you found your way. Best of luck on your journey.

I found the site when I was researching Wicca, but I was too nervous to join right away. I did go to the fantasy spells and write a few down, but the ones I found cool I avoided because I was afraid of what could happen.

I think it's a blessing and a curse, childhood curiosity bringing you to a place where you feel complete and happy is wonderful, but then you've got many who are so stuck in their mindset, they refuse to see things from a different perspective.

Personal Growth is a huge part of the path we are all on. Learning in a safe environmentis what this site is about. It is wonderful to hear another child has been touched by the gods as they made their way through this interesting world and now one who was once a child at play is a practicing adult.

Many Blessing to you as you continue on your path <3

Oh yeah, I was in your shoes too. I think many youngsters get into the idea of magic because of those fantasy spells- something about the idea, no matter how outrageous, is always appealing. I'm still super glad you found some more decent footing in magic! That phase seems to have been a good learning experience.

Funny enough, we're the same age and I was also thirteenwhen I came here looking for spells to become a mermaid. I was also sixteen when I realized what a resource SoM really is. Look at that, internet twins XD

Point is, our experiences come from what we learned in our lives, and we can use those experiences to educate the newbies who arein our shoes almost ten years ago, because we were them at some point. No shame in being a previous fluffy-magic believer. :) It contributes to your growth as a person.

Ah I remember that era of the site. Quite honestly, I first joined when i was about 14 or so but the werewolf and shapeshifting spells are what kind of got a grip on me at first. I used to try and do werewolf spells, shiftshape, etc. I remember going out one the harvest moon and chanting in hopes I'll turn into a large black and brown wolf with red eyes. My mom, who a lot of people are intimidated by tried telling me to knock it off. It took three or four years to realize that fluff spells are well, fluff. Im now a college student and I prefer to not look back at those times.

I must say I've never really attempted to cast a shape-shifting spell.

And personally was not present during these fluffy ? Times.

However I will openly admit during childhood I most seriously wished and dreamed unicorns were real.

I viewed them as a very mystical creature wise beyond words.

There is nothing wrong with a bit of imagination, and can be a wonderful part of ourselves to get to know. As we grow older we often forget that gentle, creative side of us.

It's important to use our imagination productively.

There comes a poinew in everyone's life where some beliefs simply do not serve us anymore. Wisdom comes often when we begin to differentiate.

I am very happy to hear you continue to have an interest in magical practice, and wish the best of happiness for you.

I was literally seven when I tried casting my first spell. After binge-watching Young Justice and watching how Zatanna crushed her enemies with high-fantasy magic, I wanted to be like her. I found a water freezing spell which, of course, didn't work. However, there were a few spells that actually did work, like a banishing spell which I cast to get rid of a bully when I was 10. Now I wonder if it was the universe, or my own child-like curiosity which brought me here

I would actually get mad and even sad whenever a fantasy spell I found on YouTube didn't work, since many in the comments said it did. But now that I think about it, they could have just been bots, or paid, or even just using self-suggestion or something like that

I'll admit that I still struggle with this concept in some ways sometimes, because I always ask "Why not?" I'm not talking about turning into something other than human or anything extreme like that. Mostly the limits of energy manipulation and such. There's so much that we don't know, so I hesitate to say some things are completely out of the question. Some things could be highly improbable rather than impossible, or we just don't know how to do them yet. Again, this obviously has its limits.

I think it's important to have an open mind, but I agree that we shouldn't get carried away and be consumed by fantasy. I'm sure more than one person has come up with a real spell that was based off of something they saw in fantasy. It just more than likely wouldn't have the same result for obvious reasons.

I love how an interest in fantasy magic turns into an interest in real magic though, especially when people can move beyond that disappointment that magic isn't what they see in movies and books.

It can be easy to come to the idea of "a fairy tale come true" and the fact you show personal growth is a marvelous trait to have. It shows progression and the will to learn. This website has a lot of great things about it with an amazing community that is kind and fair to help each other out. I am happy for you and each member of this website for being here.
