To bless a gun

Does anyone know a particular bless or protect a item spell or prayer? I bought a new pistol, and I wanted to bless it or help with its protection. Any suggestions/tips are welcome!

It depends heavily on your practice and beliefs, I think.

For example, if you use runes in your practice, you could use something like a needle-tip lubricant applicator (I love mine! They do so great for folding knives, for precision application on lube points in firearms, and more) to draw protective runes on the slide, and then "rub it in" at the end of cleaning as part of rust protection. If you really wanted to, you could go as far as having the slide or even frame engraved with the same (these days more often laser-etched; and depending on the model, the back plate behind the striker assembly may be replaceable and custom graphics can be ordered), or with sigils of your own creation or choosing.

Granted, it's not limited to runes. It was just an example. The name of a protector spirit or deity, a prayer to them, or what have you, could serve the same kind of purpose.

Of course I wouldn't recommend applying herbs or anything like random oils, but having them near if you do a working could also be applicable.

If you work with deities, I would call on a warrior deity, or a deity of the hunt if it was a hunting rifle. Otherwise, I would go with any blessing chant and tweak it to specify the tool you're blessing. I might also draw a sigil or other protective symbol on the handle. You could also charge it with energy and visualize your desired purpose for it. [have it in a safe place and have intruders seemingly avoid your home. I wouldn't visualize shooting it, but I would use it as a symbol that people who wish harm just get this feeling they should avoid your home]
