Magic significance?

Does the carnation flower have any spiritual/magical meaning behind it? Came up in a dream, and I seem to remember that dream the most, so it might mean something.

Yes!

This is what Gerina Dunwich says about carnations in her book ‘Herbal Magick’

Carnation
To dream about a carnation is said to symbolize a “re-birth” of some kind for the dreamer. If you are in need of hope or are trying to make a fresh start in life, a dream involving a carnation may prove to be a very lucky sign for you.

Reflect on the dream and try to look at the big picture. 90% of our dreams are forgotten in the first 5 minutes of waking [keep a journal or recording device nearby to record the second you wake up] the more you remember of the dream will help you determine its meaning. Also, think about how you feel about carnations. Do you like the flower, have no feels towards it? How you relate to certain symbols can change the meaning behind the symbol. Foxes are a warning of false friends and untrustworthy individuals, but foxes are one of my favourite animals, so seeing a fox would be different for me.

Well, I was searching for one for a friend of mine. Every time I picked up some kind of flower, he'd instantly text me saying "No, look for a carnation. I need that", as if he knew. Daisies and dandelions were also around me, blooming and closing as if hyper-sped-up.

I personally feel indifferent to carnations, too.

At some point, a list of associations was made for many, many kinds of flowers. This was what message they were meant to convey, but many of these ideas remain associated with the flowers as for their magical associations as well. Page ten of this pdf has a list of carnations by color and their meanings in messages:

What colour was the carnation? Different colours can indicate meaning too. A red carnation is for friendship. Daisy's and dandelions are happiness and friendship, so seeing them grow, wither, and die, could indicate past friendships and you searching for a carnation could indicate this is a true friend.
