I've been a member of this site for a decent amount of time (I've changed profile/account names due to my own forgetfulness on passwords and lack of trust in the internet.) My question is has anyone else have other "site members" messaging them in order to speak outside of this website? It's happened to me a few times over the last few years and i just want to raise awareness that some people aren't who you think. Said people that have messaged me, I can no longer find, all accounts deleted/nonexistent...?? I don't know, just find it weird and I get the feeling that I was being preyed upon. A lot of people ask that when they mail a lot of people, it allows them to message many people at once without being stopped by the site. Also I have found many people ask because they want to use an app rather than a web browser.
Please don't give anyone your personal social media accounts to strangers that ask for it online, the mail system on the site is a great way to message and if you are chatting with people quickly and want a more flowing conversation the private message method in chat can be used for quicker conversations.
Personally, I ignore or refuse requests to chat on other sites. The only exception was about 8 years ago, I had a few SoM friends who wanted to become Facebook friends, and while I was fine with most of them, one always rubbed me the wrong way. Long story short online stalkers are terrifying, and when they can curse you, you learn rather quickly how to sense and direct energy over long distances. I was lucky it didn't extend too far, but you can never be too careful. Go with your instinct. If something feels off, don't give in, block and walk away. [also, report to a mod if they ask for personal information or to follow links elsewhere]
Lots of great advice already in this post :) I suggest regular maintenance of your personal spaces with cleansings followed by wards. Be sure to protect all portals into your life. One can never have enough protection inall aspects of life. Trust your instincts. And always remember that computers have crystals and run on electrical energy.
