Layering spells
By:
Hi all,

I've read some places that you shouldn't layer spells, but have read elsewhere about using items charged/leftover from one spell to add to another. For example using left over wax from a spell to heal someone in another spell for the same person/reason .

What are peoples opinions on layering spells? And people don't think it's a good idea, why? For information, I layer purfume, even though the advice is not to, but I do so when I know they work well together for me. Would this be the same with spells?

I generally don't layer spells unless it's for the same person/reason. I dislike the feeling of magical goop that comes with layering. I get a feeling of confused magic when I do it, however, if it works for you, why not?

I personally have no problem layering certain spells, Like protection, or luck. But for my practices, I try to make sure to ground any excess energies from said candle or other medium after any works..
But I tend to feel the layering of specific spells is akin to multiplying,( or at least increasing) the effectiveness. Especially when considering when combined, the spells as a whole is stronger. Further, like attracts like, so your similar spells may stack automatically.

Layering spells is quite honestly a waste of time for me. I am not saying it's wrong, but to explain further, it's like you are sending a letter out to a specific person far away, the letter isn't getting there quick enough, so you send another one and another one. The people running the post offices have received your letter and getting it to the desired destination, but you have to be patient. Just like spells, you have to be patient. Meditating on the intent is not a bad idea, though. I encourage that you keep the energy flowing, but like I said with the letter example, now you have several spells to focus in on.

If you were talking about using leftover objects from different spells, I don't think it's the best idea, you see, there's a lot of different energy with that object now and the result that it carried through, I think it should be cleansed before using it for something else, even if it's for the same intent.

If layering means using left over items, then yes. The best rule is if it feels bad, don't do it. I think it comes down to intent, how you really feel about it, and what the item is or how it was used. Usually I think luck and protection work, or things just less uniquely focused.

Intent - Cleanse an entity from this person
Later use candle wax to seal up a witches bottle is fine.

Intent - I want to celebrate for my birthday, attract some money and abundance; maybe some ego and greed got into the whole birthday celebration idea
Later using the same items to get money for my car but, who knows, it might have some negativity added to it on my behalf because I'm human and I wanted to celebrate me dang it! Greed often isn't the best way to go and actually get what you want, but isn't your birthday all about you? So understandable, but maybe too negative and even forceful if you really need money for that car payment.
