Happiness spells?

My friend has lately been feeling depressed, and confessed to me she's has been thinking about suicide. Are there any spells I can cast to boost her mood? Or kind of manipulate her into not killing herself?

Get her to a trained mental health professional. This is not a case where magic is needed. She needs trained individuals who can assist her and protect her if she is suicidal.

I tried. She refused to go. She did call the National Suicide prevention Lifeline, but they didn't help much.

This is a difficult thread to address.

Firstly, depression is not sadness. Someone can be happy in the moment while still experiencing severe depression. It's much, much deeper than that. While I do not recommend magic as a substitute for actual professional help, it can be used in the process of learning to cope. But it would have to be her decision to face such difficult changes.

What you can do, if you want to cast a spell, is look for something that gives her hope for the future and positive encouragement. In person, let her know you're there for her; you see she's going through a rough time, there's always tomorrow and you want her in it.

I agree that unfortunately magick probably won't be the solution for this.

I am glad she was able to speak to you. Speaking from personal experience depression and suicidal feelings are godawful, and sometimes just knowing you have someone you can confide in helps. That being said if you have concerns about her being able to keep herself safe, you can call 911 and have her evaluated. Especially for circumstances where she might be texting or talking on the phone about wanting to harm herself right now. She will probably be angry/upset if you do that, but the important thing is getting her into appropriate treatment and helping her be safe.

Sorry, this might be triggering to people suffering from depression, just FYI.

From my perspective, I have struggled a lot with depression and anxiety since I was 12-13 (more than half my life by now). I have had periods of severe depression, severe SI where I was really struggling (not bathing or changing clothes for several days at a time, isolating myself, making offhand comments about suicide or self harm). When I was in college I was going thru a particularly hard time, and in spite of asking for help no one really took me seriously. While I managed to muscle thru it, it still kind of hurts that no one took my need for help seriously. Logically I know that it is an awkward topic and hard for a lot of people to discuss, and I really think everyone thought they were doing their best by me with their actions, but it wasn't helpful. I would have been super pissed if someone called for extra help then, but now that I have gotten into proper treatment and am on good doses of medication, I think I would have understood after the fact.

Mental health is incredibly difficult, and even if you can't get her to a mental health professional, if she has a trusted family member, pastor, mentor, or anything else that would be a good resource, that would be great.

Spell wise as an augmentation, anything that can help provide peace and calm, along with protection, might be helpful. For a lot of people, feeling suicidal is less about not wanting to be alive and more about not being able to find any other way out of a tough and painful situation. Bad depression hurts like hell, and it can feel like the only way to end that pain. anything to help ease anxiety, burdens, or pressure may be good augmenting strategies. The main thing will have to be getting support and proper help, however.

Hope everything is OK and I'm sorry you guys are going thru this!

Coming from the point of view of someone who's dealt with and currently dealing with manic depression. Saying to go to a trained professional is wise, but if the person is saying that they don't want to.. Then respect that. Im glad to see that you are there for this person. For the magic portion you can pray or do a positive energy raise. On the physical note, just be there for the person and offer as much as possible (Things that are positive of course).
