Dedication to Deity

I've found myself writing a small dedication ritual to a deity and thought to bring up a few things. I wasn't expecting to write a dedication ritual and how it came about seems to have been a whirlwind. I suppose I've been caught off my guard along my spiritual path. So I thought I'd bring forward some considerations before dedicating oneself to a Patron deity.

. Try to develop a relationship with a deity before fully dedicating oneself to him/ her.
. Make sure to research as much as possible the deity you intend to dedicate to. Get to know which type of offerings they prefer, myths they can be found in, characteristics, symbolism related to them.
. Remember you don't have to dedicate yourself if you don't feel ready.
. Ask yourself why you feel you'd like to dedicate yourself to this particular Patron or Matron? What are your hopes with working with this deity? Do you really want to work with this deity long term? What are you willing to offer to the relationship?
. Finally you are responsible for yourself and your own actions.

. If in the end you decide being dedicated to a Patron or Matron isn't for you. Fine. It is what you feel comfortable with that matters. Lesson learned.

If anyone has anything else to add feel free.
