I recommend starting with researching, talking to others with similar interests, and choosing a path that suits you. So for example,If i wanted to try out divination, I would reasearch it, talk to others on it, then maybe get a tarot deck and learn from that as well. I also recommend trying different types of magic/k before settling in your path/journey/craft

A career in magic? It seriously depends. In part, it depends on what kind or tradition of magic it is you wish to make your living doing. You could potentially offer services such as casting spells and petitioning deities or spirits on people's behalves (within the specific tradition you follow), divination, working for an order or temple (or whatever the tradition you follow calls its physical locations), even teaching. However, something I cannot stress enough is making sure you are ready to do any of the above. Some of them require less personal investment for getting started than others. For example, with teaching, I would recommend being no less than adept in that given tradition. Whereas getting a job within a set tradition, you could be much newer to that path, and work your way up in both knowledge and positing within that tradition as the years go by.

The suggestions already made are wonderful in my opinion. Additionally, I'd suggest making sure you have a job outside of that and/or something to fall back on just in case. It's typically hard to "make it" in a religious job, especially in witchcraft as it's not as widely accepted yet. Good luck!
