Suicide awareness month

September is Suicide awareness and prevention month. I think it deserves a post.

Before I begin, it's necessary to say that the following is not advice for treatment or diagnosis, and that consulting a mental health professional is always recommended over trying to face life's toughest inner challenges on one's own. There is hope. There is getting better.

Here's something which took me far too long to realize: Life will be difficult, basically always. I also had to realize I'm not a victim of life, but that things happen which are out of my control and are not maliciously done to me; it's life.

So here is some advice: You are not your thoughts. You are not the desperation, the depression, the anxiety. You are not your emotions. You can overcome. You can learn how to cope, and you can improve. I believe in you.

I've come a long way over the past many years. At one point, I tried to take my own life. I'm glad whatever happened kept me from it (an epiphany about exactly why at that moment I was doing so). I'd dabbled in ideas of magic before then, and some years after that, I became more dedicated to it. That internal change is what has brought me to where I am now.

Am I cured of these symptoms? No. But I can cope better than I ever have before.

Would I recommend the path I've taken above all others? No. I would recommend professional help and learning healthy coping mechanisms in addition to it. But change is possible either way.

You're worth the improvement.

Thank you for this post. I myself have had a history of making "attempts" and its a dark place i wouldn't wish on anyone. Magic and music have been the 2 main things that helped me overcome things. I still have depression but i realized that i can cope with that mental monster. And if i can then anyone else can even if it seems difficult. My love goes out there to anyone who is struggling

Please get help if you are feeling this way, reach out to supportive people in your life who are willing to sit there and listen to you. Please remember that these people can't do everything for you if they are family and friends, which is why it's always best to contact a professional psychiatric.

You are here for a reason. Life can get tough, and while it's okay to look after people you must look after yourself as will. So thank you for posting this post, since it is a topic that people should be more aware of. To those who are suffering know that you are not alone, improve your health and improve your mind for you are worth staying here and are worthy of every breath you take. Take care everyone and know there is no shame for asking help.

Also worth noting, we cant control everything in life, it's not worth stressing about minor things and blowing them out of proportion. Good post.

If you are even thinking about the possibility of suicide, talk to someone about your feelings and get help. If you don't have a trusted friend, teacher, counselor, or parent to talk to then contact the National Suicide Prevention hotline

You can find it at https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org/ tel:1-800-273-8255
