Here are some features I feel would be nice additions to SoM.

  • Forums and messages have a time of when they were sent in accordance to the user's timezone.
  • Ability to see and read sent mail.
  • An ability to review deleted messages and recover them.
  • Notifications to when someone responds to a forum you created/replied to
  • Notifications to when someone replies to a created spell
  • Additionally, I believe it'd be nice to have an appeal feature. If an account is gagged the user is able to send an appeal (one shot message to the user that gagged them). I mainly say this from a long time ago experience (6 years ago) when I was in the chat my connection was acting up and I was trying to send something in the chat that wasn't visible or showing that it sent. My screen lagged and then revealed that I sent the message roughly six or seven times. Before I could apologize and explain I was gagged. And sometimes it's annoying to have to regain your reputation, friends, and make a new email and account.

Thanks for the consideration. I would like to state that I feel the website is quite nice and user friendly already, and I mean the purpose of this thread as a simple positive list of suggestions. But I feel fulfilling a few or all of these suggestions would make the site even greater. I could just message the site admin, but I want public opinion before I bring it up there.

I like all the suggestions besides the last one, the Moderators and Administrator are the only ones that have access to the gagging feature, so when a user is gagged it's usually for a good reason.

Honestly I agree with all those things. It would be in incredibly handle to have if possible, Notifications for forms would be helpful. I tend to,forget form post I have replied to or have started it would save a lot of trouble. I would also like to suggest aNotifications for when mail in our message bank have arrived. After all we get one when we forget our password. What about when someone messages us as will?

I'm sureModerators andAdministrator have very good reason to gag people, but yet at the same time it would also be helpful to message them before doing so. I know it's recommend that people should read the rule site, and they should read it since it answers a lot of answers, but not everybody does. It would be handle to message them, this way if they decided to come back after seven or eight years later. They know what they did wrong and avoid it.

The appeal feature for gags is already there. Anyone is able to send a polite e-mail to the Mod who gagged them to ask the reason why or to offer an excuse as to why they should be given a second chance. If you don't know who gagged you you can ask any Mod to let you know. But don't always expect a Mod to change their gag. It is the responsibility of every member to read the rules and abide by them. If they can't be bothered, well then it is their own fault if they get gagged...not the fault or responsibility of the Moderator.

And remember too, that if you have a history of multiple accounts being gagged for violations of the rules then the Mods are less likely to cut you any slack.

It is not the responsibility of the Mods to always issue a warning. We can if we feel you have made an honest mistake. But if we think you are simply flaunting the rules there is no requirement to warn before gagging. The rules are clearly outlined at https://www.spellsofmagic.com/chat_rules.html (And they apply to the Forums as well as Chat). Please note in particular rule #11.

I understand that the Moderator's decision is final and if I argue with a warning or other person's gag, I too will be gagged and the gag will not be removed.
Moderators do not gag members at random. If someone was gagged it was because they broke the rules. If you get a warning the moderator is being extremely nice and arguing will just get you gagged.

On another subject, you can find posts you have made if you forget where you put them by clicking on the History tab at the top of your Profile.

Though the ability to see history is an okay feature, you still don't receive updates whether or not they were responded to.

As for the appeal ability, as already established it's pretty much an unnecessary suggestion. I honestly don't see it as a problem but I know asking for these other features is probably already asking too much from such a conservative community. So I understand that one.
