Hi, I'm new here.
I'm curious as to whether or not any of these spells work? Sorry if this offends anyone, just trying to learn. I'd also like proof... You don't have to tho

Do some of the spells on this site work? Possibly. There are a lot of poorly written spells, as well as many which are absolutely fantasy and unrealistic. But there are some feasible instructions here and there.

And, no! It should not offend anyone that you asked. Skeptics like yourself as well as people new to practicing magic will ask, and for good reasons. For example, it's good to roll your eyes at the spells claiming to be able to grow wings, turn people into other things, and other such nonsense. But these will help draw traffic to the site, and the ad revenue is partly how this forum even exists.

As for proof, that becomes difficult. Most of the time, results are a matter of synchronicity and confirmation bias, especially where external workings are concerned (external as in finding money, getting a job, things that affect other people or bring a physical result; as opposed to internal as in personal development, changing an emotional aspect of the self, becoming a better person). As for internal efforts, psychology confirms that determination, consistency, and effort can change people's personalities. There are things which used to be purely in the realm of Magic are very much used in the world of psychology, cognitive behavioral therapy, self-hypnosis, neuro-linguistic programming, and the like. But more often, it's the sort of thing a practitioner will experience personally.

Say, for example, I do a simple spell to come into some money, and my best friend knows. The next day we're hanging out somewhere, and I happen to find a $20 bill on the sidewalk. Is it coincidence? Sure. Is it because I did the spell? I'd say yes, because it comes just after. My friend would insist no, because people drop money all the time. He remains unconvinced.

So what is magic? There are so many definitions from so many sources and people. My favorite definition is 'change in accordance with will.' A spell in itself is not magic. It's just some words said, and maybe some ingredients used. But it is arranged into a ritual, and combined with knowledge of how to achieve a result (including raising this nebulous concept of energy -- my take is emotional excitement, intention, and focused will, though others' opinions will differ) and belief, directing the attention to the goal, a spell becomes a ritual wish (thanks, Brysing, for my favorite definition of what a spell is!), and thus is used in an attempt to attain a magical result.

So by all means, go try something! It won't hurt. My opinion is that it all starts with meditation.
