Soil Blessing?

I am about to plant some seeds for a medicinal plant that is a little difficult to grow, so I would like to know if there are any blessings, rituals, or spells I can perform on the soil before I plant them for an optimal growing season. The seeds are almost finished germinating, so I would like some suggestions that can be performed during any lunar phase because if I wait until the full moon, the tap roots will have withered and died.

Some of us from the northern faiths give an offering to our fertility deities as a request for blessing our fields for a good harvest. We also leave offerings to our land spirits ( minor deities) to protect and nourish our crops and protect them from harm.

Staves of wood can placed into the soil with runes or sigils that are specially constructed for agricultural themes. An example would be a bindrune with algiz, uruz and ingwaz. A sigil for protection, strength and growth. If you use a wood such as cedar, it will repel pests and you will be able to somewhat track the moisture content of your soil by checking the water stain on the staves from time to time.

Good luck with your harvest. May the Gods bless.

Gardening medicinal plants is a huge part of my practice.

The soil is something like an altar, i frequently leave blessings and offerings of crystals and home-brewed compost teas.

I think in your case a visualization exercise of the soil glowing and coming to life and nourishing your plants would be very helpful, or something equally simple would be effective i think =)

Crystal water, bindrunes, music, and other treats for garden fairies are also worthy techniques i have used in the past.

Hope this helps =)

The waxing moon phase or the time between the new moon and full moon, which is also the moon phase we are currently in, is a great time to sow seeds or plants. Drawing fertility symbols into th earth before, during, and after one plants helps to manifest the energy needed to generate growth and abundance in the garden. Symbols such as the spiral, the snake, the egg, the hare, the bell, the lotus flower, the pomegranate, the ankh, the lingam(phallus) and the yoni (vulva) or whatever else inspires or invokes fertility may be use to represent fertility and should be drawn into the loose soil. Protection symbols are also a good idea to use in conjunction with the fertility, abundance, and growth. Whatever the the symbols one uses they don't have to stay visible and in fact it's advisable to stir or turn these symbols deep into the earth. One can even turn crystals and other charged items such as charms into the dirt, it's really up to the caster.Placing items of offering around the plants may help increase the energy available to the manifestation, I often use mushroom mulch or good composted material to further enrich the soil and I see this as an offering to not only the plants but the soil itself. Don't forget to bless the water given to the seeds and plants. Each and every time one is working within the garden space they should be present with energy that is congruent to the existing workings of fertility and protection. For some of us it's like going to church when we get on our hands and knees and put our hands to the earth.

Many Blessing as the earth begins anew
