Cats

I know this is going to sound crazy, but I was just wondering why only gray and/or calico cats pick out house to mooch off of? There are stray cats all over the area we live( woods nearby, just outside town). At one time we were feeding 11 cats. Some stay, some go,some pass on. We feed them, treat any wounds or illness, spay or neuter if we have the money, make sure they are warm and safe. I can't stand to see any animal starve,or cold,or hurt. Heck, most of the time they come in And out of the house any time. We fixed our door so that they could. They potty in the litter box or go outside and we have all the mice, chipmunks, lizards, birds and grasshoppers we will ever need. I just wish I wouldn't wake up with a half chewed tail-less mouse sharing my pillow.
Sorry! Got off track! For some reason, all of the cats that stay are gray or calico(tortoise shell). Black ones and yellow ones come thru or are born here but after they are grown, they leave or pass away. Genetics is part but many are not related. The males leave because of the dominant male I'm sure but we have them fixed so..... Oh well.Just wondering. It seems odd .
Have a blessed day!

This doesn't really seem like a magickal phenomenon to me. If you believe it may be a sign, perhaps you could look into that, as signs are generally interpreted more accurately by the person experiencing it, but it could also just be normal cat behavior.

You mentioned that males tend to be scared off by a tom in the area (also, feral and stray tom cats can be quite aggressive and territorial, and wouldn't likely go near humans), so that explains the calico and orange cats. Calicos are almost always female, and the only way they are born otherwise is due to either being intersex, or, according to Wikipedia, combining with another cat in the womb. Both of these are extremely rare. Most orange cats are male, so that explains why they don't tend to be in the area. Some people also believe that coat color affects cat personality, and gray cats are known to be sociable and friendly. Black cats still have a bit of a stigma (superstitious people often consider them bad luck), so there's a possibility that they've been treated badly by people in the past. Some people believe that all black cats are male, too, but I can't find any definitive proof of that. White cats tend to be blind and/or deaf, so might have a more difficult time both surviving on their own and locating people, since cats rely a lot on their sense of hearing. I'm not sure about tuxedo cats, but I don't believe there are a high percentage of them, and they are popular cats, so there are probably less strays with that coat color. I believe white cats and tuxedo cats tend to be bred a lot, so that lowers the chances of them being stray or feral, as well. Like you said, it might also come down to genetics: a mother cat could take her kittens to a house, who will take their kittens, and so on.

As I said, I'm not discounting this being a sign or other spiritual experience, I'm merely offering what I've experienced and read about cats.

Thanks. I'm not worried or anything. I just found it curious. We've had male and female black cats, females were more at ease with us even though they were born in my living behind a couch or chair. For a while, every litter that was born had at least one callie and these callies had had one. We had 5 at one time. I've heard they were supposed to good luck....yeah right haha. A lot of the kittens didn't make it and some bad FIP. My last 2 toms were brothers. One we called Tom was the big cat on the hill. One weekend he came in the house(unusual) and spent the weekend cuddling, something he usually hated. He would always pet hubby, snuggle, all that but he would only let never him unless he was sick of hurt. When we woke that Monday, he was gone. He was old, beat up and he came to say goodbye. We looked for him but he didn't want to be found. A month ago his brother, Mot, the new big cat on the hill did the same only be never let us hold him and only let me let him especially if he was sick. We left him wrapped up cozy with special food and toys. We had to go out for a while. We came home he was gone. It sucks but it's what they do. They last time I tried to keep Tom in the house he attacked me until we let him out. Most of the kittens were descendents of Tom or Mot,and rarely a really big yellow guy.

I've read that the tortoise shell callies are very independent. The ones here were. If they are unhappy with the house or anything or anyone in it, they will leave. If they don't get the attention they feel they deserve, they will go find it. When Kami left two batches of kittens had just been born. She hated kittens, crowds, and other cats. Katness did the same.

The cats here are very strange. We had mama cats adopting kittens from 2or 3 different mothers at the same time(was before they started coming to us). If we had 2 cats deliver at the same time, they combined their litters and took turns feeding and caring for the babies. If a mama didn't think another mama was taking care of the babies, she would go get it and keep it. We had a strange cat take up here occupy and we found her passed away under our house. We then saw her baby(really small). The alpha female(i guess we can call her that) didn't hesitant. She started taking care of her like she was her own. The baby was the one who hesitated.
Sorry. I get carried away. I do love the little monsters.

Thanks
God bless
