Sabbats when closet witch

I live with my family who are extreme Christians, and would not approve of me doing anything having to do with Wicca. Lughnassadh is approaching, and I decided to just ask for all the Sabbats (and Esbats): how do I celebrate each one privately, discreetly, or otherwise low-key enough that my parents won’t be suspicious? I can’t have an altar or anything, or have any huge celebration, but what can I do?

Make a dinner for your family, something commonly eaten/or associated with those Celebrations - and as you make it, pray silently in your head, focusing the intents of that celebration into your cooking.

The ideas are very appropriate for broom closet dwellers like yourself; one of the suggestions is to simply go for a walk! :)

I'm also a broom closet dweller, so don't be afraid to mail me :)

Sorry to hear that you're having trouble celebrating, I know it can be hard when other people - especially your family won't accept the path you've taken. Don't worry though, we're here for you!

I personally like to use Sacred Wicca for sabbat ideas, so I'll share a few from the site's Lammas page that I think you can do without drawing too much attention to yourself.

  • Place an ash leaf under your pillow for prophetic dreams.
  • Eat and drink all in the name of the Goddess and God. Begin with a prayer of thanks for the bounty laid before you.
  • Lammas is a good time to renew protection on your home by putting a rowan cross above your front door. Simply tie two pieces of rowan twigs together to form a cross using red thread. Chant while you're tying the thread:
    Red thread and rowan wood
    Out evil, in good.

If you want to see the rest of it, here's the source.http://sacredwicca.com/lammas
