If you haven't done so already in your previous attempts then I would recommend first preparing a space for yourself. This place should be as comfortable as possible with little to no disturbance. If you'd like to further enhance the relaxing atmosphere then you may want to light candles, burn incense, or play music.

Music is actually a very common method that people use to better their transition into the astral plane. It's said to be able to help the transition by altering thinking patterns, but I haven't really looked into the legitimacy of this claim. There is, however, another method known as rolling. This involves lying in bed and visualizing yourself rolling back and forth until you feel yourself slowly rolling out of your body.

In addition to that is the elevator method, where you visualize yourself inside of the elevator of a building with 100 floors. As the elevator rises, your astral body separates itself further and further from your physical body, completing the separation on the 100th floor. These are just a few that I know of, there are many other methods I haven't mentioned that you can find in SOMs articles:

I hope this helps and good luck!

I think what you are referring to is the VS (vibrational state) that many people experience before they enter the astral plane. Many different sensations can be felt prior to astral projecting like rocking, numbness, or hearing high-pitched noises. However, vibrations are the most common sensation, hence the name VS.

Once you have reached this state you shouldn't open your eyes or move your physical body. Instead, it is recommended to try to learn to control the VS state before trying to leave your body. Since it seems you have experienced rocking rather than vibration, try to mentally push the motion from your head to your toes like a wave. Continue trying to create these surges until you feel as though you could induce one by will.

When you feel like you're ready, it is suggested to test the waters first by moving your limbs in the astral. You could try lifting your astral foot, raising your hand and pushing it through a nearby object, or even lifting your head. Once you feel comfortable moving your limbs, its considered the best time to use the rope method or any of the previous ones I mentioned.

As for your other questions, I wasn't entirely sure how to answer them. I did, however, find this information from an author known as Belsebuub that can hopefully help:

"Very occasionally when trying to project we can suddenly seem to 'see through our eyelids', but then we are in the transition period between two dimensions - the physical body has its eyes shut and the astral body is seeing. This passes when the full split has taken place. Try not to confuse the functions between the two bodies. Once you feel you have separated, I would suggest first getting up out of bed carefully as you would in the morning, perhaps on the bed and then open your eyes just as naturally."

Thank you for this post! I've experienced the vibrations before, often. I didn't know what they were or that I was getting close to AP. I've tried for a long time and now that I know I'm on the right track I can work at it better. Thanks again!
