I don't quite understand what you are saying, but I don't think this has ever happened to me. Are you sure you weren't dreaming?

For some you cannot usually remember what you encountered on another realm or universe.

And with lucid dreaming you project yourself spiritual self to where you wish to be for usually trying to remember things that have already happened in your life and are trying to recall and certain events and put them together.

You're still speaking ambiguously. In fact, you're adding more ambiguity.

By doing meditative things with mirrors, do you mean you are scrying? That is not astral projection. It is much more akin to dreaming, as like dreaming, any images come from the subconscious alone.

You say you don't sleep much, and that the time you would otherwise be sleeping is spent doing these spiritual things. There's part of the kicker: Sleep deprivation combined with putting yourself into a relaxed state.

I believe what you are experiencing is the effects of a sleep-deprived brain demanding rest, resulting in some intense visual experiences while you're attempting to gain visions of the astral. It is quite possible that you are so short on cerebral rest that you may be experiencing hypnagogic hallucinations in your waking yours, as your brain is begging for sleep.
