It's this electronic device that reads your brain waves and hooks up to your phone so you can track your progress, and if your thoughts wander it reads the change in waves and makes a noise to tell you.
And from that I'm assuming you meant candle meditation? And to that I can say your eyes could be sensitive to the brightness of the flame. I have this issue. I primarily do candle magic, but I seldom use them for meditation since I get migraines extremely easily and light triggers it, and if I look at a bright light my head starts hurting or my eyes get stressed which can also cause a headache.

That could be it. I have an extreme sensitivity to light.

I love the guided meditations on YouTube. There are so many of them. They are really good for me because my mind tends to wander. They have really helped me by giving my mind something to focus on. so it doesn't go astray.

Everyone's mind tends to wander. It is the tendency of the mind; the brain demands nearly constant stimulation, of which meditation causes a deprivation. Even those well-practiced with meditation need to bring their attentions back to center.

Agreed. Though sometimes when my thoughts are being stubbornly flighty, I have actually found it useful to just let it happen and follow along. Rathdr than trying to control my tboughts I switch focus to doing my best to be an active listener.

If I find my mind starting to think in circles, or rehashing old thoughts, where I am not sure how they are relevant any more, I start asking myself questions. I try to make a conversation out of it where I refuse to be satisfied with a simple answer. I dig at the thought until It leads me to something insightful about myself.

This is especially useful if you are tumbling around something stressful like a difficult upcoming choice, or if you are feeling like some situation has you 'spinning your wheels' without going anywhere. It's the mental equivalent of taking your concern, sitting it in a chair, and saying " Alright then, Whatever your problem we're gonna hash it out now."

Sometimes it goes nowhere but in circles. Other times it doesn't really resolve things... but it makes progress. But on occasion it can lead to one of those ah-hah!! moments of epiphany that puts the issue sudden clarity.

If your meditations keep getting waylaid by the same (or same kinds of) thoughts, there might be a reason they are there. Something about them needs your attention. Try seeing where they lead you.
