Relax your posture. Sit where you feel comfortable and take a deep breath and then close your eyes. Start rubbing your hands and once you feel the heat. Put your hands in front of your stomach and try to feel the energy coming from it. Once you feel it, you should be able to see a color with your eyes closed. Healing energy is mostly done like that. Then let's say a person's sick then you have to put your energy in that sick area and focus your energy into healing it. That should do the trick. Hope this helps.

I'm a newbie just like you, but I'll share what happened yesterday. I had a little ache on my right arm, so I said to myself, why not to give it a try? So I focused on making a psi ball and when I felt it in my hands I thought of what I had previously read about chakras. I soon remembered the green chakra is also the chakra of healing force, so I closed my eyes and focused on the color green. Then I slowly put my left hand on the aching part of my arm, still making the green healing force stream through my left hand, and when I said Okay, that's enough, I felt no ache at all. I think today I'm going to try with other colours and see what happens.

My first suggestion is to read as many books as you can get your hands on. If you want to focus on healing then books on reiki and Ayurveda are a good start. There is a -huge- list of books out there, some of my favorite authors are Barbara Brennan, Anodea Judith, Caroline Myss, Deepak Chopra (if you can make sense of his writing style), Gary Zukav, and Brian Weiss.

Just about any new-age book will usually also have at least one chapter dedicated to introducing the concepts of the human energy system; the chakras, meridians, aura, Higher Self, channeling, etc. Not to mention other variations of energy-working such as sound therapy, reflexology, acupuncture/pressure, Self-realization, crystal healing, laying on of hands, and probably a few other techniques I can't think of off the top of my head.

Considering the huge wealth of ideas and information out there, it can be a bit of a slow process to really get started with the practice. but ti's also kinda fun because there'a always something different to read about and consider. It's one of those things where it is relatively easy to get started, but it becomes a lifelong path of development. Here are a few tips I have learned over the years.

1) All things begin with the self; Learn a few simple meditations for relaxation and centering. Breathing exercises are the easiest. Use that practice to start learning about and connecting to the flow and overall feel of your own energy.

2) Physician, heal thy self; Your physical health and energetic vibrational state both have an effect on your efforts. It is difficult to do healings on others when you need healing yourself. You don't need to go full 'granola-munching health nut', but Some regularly occurring light exercise and a habit of proper eating goes a long ways. In meditation focus on clearing your own energy, learning about and connecting with your chakras, energy flow, and aura. And practice reaching out for and drawing in positive healing energy.

3) Do not be the oasis trying to feed the desert, be the river connecting the ocean; Whenever you do energy working, don't use your personal energy. While your energy is indeed maintained through metabolism, rest, and meditation you still only have so much available at a time. If you drain your batteries it can leave you feeling tired, off kilter, and unbalanced. Using your own energy in healing also means that any baggage, emotions, or personal issues you are carrying around with you can get in the way of what you are trying to accomplish or even be pushed along to the other person. Instead, reach outward to a source of positive healing energy first. Form a constant flow of energy through yourself from another source. Your Higher Self, the energies of the spiritual planes, perhaps a particular deity you have a working-relationship with, or even something as abstract as the basic idea of healing and well-being. This way you energize yourself while you heal another.

4) In every day begin anew; Every time you begin a new healing session, begin anew with a moment of centering, clearing your own energy, and then reaching out to the most positive/highest vibration energies you can connect to. As you learn and grow and improve, what you can connect with will change along with it. Take advantage of every opportunity to connect with something better (Higher, more potent, more uplifting) than last time.

5) It is difficult to direct water while standing in its path; When it comes to energy working, the more you get out of the way, the easier it is to move. Energy isn't something you push along, it has a natural motion and flow, and a natural behavior. The more you work with that behavior, the more movement and effect you can feel. Concentrate on the intent and goal of your healing session, and then open the line and let the energy go to where it needs to be. It is like working with a series of puddles. Imagine you want to move water from a really full one, to one that is almost dried up. You could try to push the water, kicking it over the gap between them a bit at a time, spreading it all out, and getting very little across for your troubles. or you could drag your heel between them for a few seconds to open a little path, and just let the water flow as it normally would and do the work for you.

6) It's ok to have your head in the clouds, just keep your feet on the ground; Always remember that this practice, like any other, is supplementary to one's physical needs, not a replacement. You should always pay attention to mundane responsibilities. Care for your body, study practical things, and pay attention to real life. Energy working and other spiritual practices are not an exercise to escape reality.

7) Remember your humility; Being a healer does not mean you are the one doing the healing. You are providing an environment and opportunity for the person you are working with to heal themselves. By working energy you are providing a relief of stress, a connection to energy their body can use to restore itself, and an emotional connection to the idea of wellness. Don't get me wrong, this is not to downplay the value of your actions. But it is to help you remember that the greatest value lies on the act of healing. Not in the person doing it.

This isn't another tip so much as a suggestion and food for serious thought. Thou shalt not charge; It was taught to my great-aunt, who taught it to me. And here is why:

When there is an exchange of money there is an expectation of results- both from the customer and also from the giver of the service. Healing is a really fluid concept, and that concept changes day by day and person by person. Any Wholistic art means more things than just waving your hands over a person and suddenly they feel better. Examination of the cause of the problem is prudent.

Bad life habits, bad emotional habits, exposure to stress or negativity, there are many things that people expose themselves to that make them ill and cause a great many of diseases. Even if an energy working session was spectacularly successful and completely restored a person to good health, they may go right back to what they were doing and 'by some great mystery' get sick again. best case, the person comes back for more healing. worst case, the person accuses you of fraud and false hope.

Some things can't (or aren't meant to) be healed. All things in life are potential lessons, illness and death even are no different. healing can be a relief of physical issues, or healing might be more of an emotional or spiritual event than a physical change. But again if there is that expectation of "money for cure", there arises problems.

And then there are personal feelings as well. When you have that expectation yourself, there is a temptation to create something that will match that expectation. There can be a need to create a 'show' around the healing, to make the person believe something is being done that is more meaningful than, say, standing there with a hand on their chest for twenty minutes. Or even a small expression of confidence in success if you got paid, did the working, and didn't feel the energy flow like you would have expected. Faking it just a little to imply a success you might not be completely confident in. or, being honest and admitting that the energy wasn't working that day and offering to try again or return the money. Carried too far, it could slip into being called out for outright fraud or other sinister accusations.

And then there is the emotional consideration that by expecting payment for helping people, then it leaves the all important question of motivation. Are you there to help people, or are you there to make money? Where does your morality lie on the grey area in between?

In the end, it saves on many potential problems all around by just practicing healing as it is, for the sake of the practice itself. if you want to combine it with another service to earn money that is a good way to go. For example, being trained and certified in therapeutic massage usually goes really well with energy working. That way you could offer and perform paid massage services, and then offer or otherwise add in energy-working free of charge, as a bonus.
