I was wonder why celebrities aren't cursed actively all the time sense their pictures are seen by hundreds of millions of people?. Do you have to know the person?

I am looking forward to the responses as I don't believe people can use a picture to curse.

Pictures, names, hair, blood, clothes, and many other things can be used in cursework.

I agree Silentsyren. Not only can those things be used but they actually have been used multiple times in the past in cursework. I just don't believe using pictures actually works. Physical body parts (you mentioned blood and hair) is a whole different story. I will continue anticipating the first response to the original post.

Well what I personally believe is that Blood, hair or any such thing that carries our DNA could be useful but unless you've got a personal connection with the celebrity, there's no use of cursing. Usually we only curse those whom we know personally, be it friend , relative or any of our acquaintance from whom we'd like a revenge, so basically it gets easier with such people to establish a connection, but in case of celebrities, it's like shooting an arrow in the dark which is definitely going to miss it's target.

I'm inclined to agree with AlexisSilver. Generally, curses are cast on those we have strong personal feeling toward, anger, hatred, etc. This helps fuel the magic that we're working because we have personal stake in the magic being worked.

Pictures are useful, because they give you visual and emotional stimulus when focusing on who exactly it is you want to work the curse on. If you can get personal belongings, blood, etc all the better. Most often, I've seen it done with sympathetic magics (though this is not the only means to an end, as they say). Poppets are employed with the items generally woven or stitched into the poppet, with a picture of the individual attached to the poppets "face." The idea being that the ritual performed imitates the real actions or results that you wish to bring about on the individual in question.
However, I do not think some random person trying to curse a celebrity would do much of anything. There would be no motivation behind it, no real emotional connection, etc. Unless the individual was someone close to them that they had slighted, upset, etc I don't foresee them having anything to worry about to be quiet honest.

Hi Misanthropy. So I read what you said about the use of pictures. Interesting, it acts as an emotional and visual stimulus. This is true. Even more interesting you mentioned it has to be someone you know.

Incorrect. I didn't say that it had to be. Simply that if it was, it would be more likely to work, as opposed to someone you wanted to curse "just because." When you are casting a curse on someone you know, someone that has wronged you, hurt you, etc you have strong emotion behind the work you're doing.

If you cursed someone you didn't know, a stranger, just to see if it would work or just because you felt like it, that emotion (mentioned above) wouldn't play a role in that work of magic. Granted, it still might work but the results or power behind it may not be what it would be in the scenario above.
