They usually know their own names-- so if somebody speaks it aloud they will pay attention and come over to see why somebody is saying their name. Just like people, actually, only some people see this as more "dangerous" because there is no distance on the astral. So, things you name will come over frighteningly quick.
To scream at it just because it was annoying you is kind of mean, especially if it's not a human spirit and just doesn't understand that it's hurting you. Since it's haunting you anyway (I wouldn't say possessed,) why not try to communicate with it, negotiate with it-- try for a little more understanding. If you don't have a very strong intuition, you can cast a circle around the board and invite it over by name to talk one-on-one with the board or pendulum and resolve things that way. Or you could just put the things away until it gets bored. You don't have to call everything that is not like us, "Evil."

You are not possessed, if you were, you wouldn't even be writing on this post, unless you are testing a handful of people, and that is thinking way too deep. You would not have control over your body, at times or all the time, and you could sort of black out, from the demon taking over your body. It is not possessing you right now, the way you fear it might. It may be putting thoughts into your head, and what it is trying to do is break you down to nothing. Once it breaks you down, breaks your mind, that is when it can possess you because you lost control over yourself, because you lost will power; because you lost faith in yourself, over this very demon. Got to have will power. In other words, it will test you until the end, so to speak. When you scream or give into that pain, it becomes stronger and stronger, and it is going to do this periodically, discretely and slowly. There are ways to rid oneself of these spiritual antagonists, as it is being to you, but I am going to say. . . you are going to have to find that out. And you are going to have to say to yourself, that you have to find a way. And that is your first step in overcoming your dilemma.

I would suggest on paying my respects first, because it was something that you have to take in responsibility for, because demons, not all, are what they are to many, and some, but not to all; nonetheless, demons do have a job.
OK, I have a perfect solution. Your fear is part of why, obviously, this demon is troubling you, but what it is, people don't fully understand why it is what you're experiencing. Even if you ignore it completely, and don't give it life, there is still a chance that it will come back. It probably has a chart of astrology just for you, and picks it's times that it wants to mess with you, as it sees fit. When one gives into fear, fear controls them, and keeps that very person from focusing on what's important, or what it is that he or she needs to do. Very similar to anger, on how anger truly clouds the mind and leaves us stuck in a stale atmosphere and life style. I would try merging your consented energy with this entity. What do I mean by that? Be it's friend, or talk to a ceremonial magician and make it go away. There's smudging, there are spells, there are rituals (smudging), there are protective symbols, . . .

I think you have to learn some things about how these sort of creatures work. My best guess is to talk to a ceremonial magician because they have a wide spectrum on the way they see the world and the occult world. "Poor child, so sweet and innocent." :( . . . >:)
I guess what it really boils down to, is that what we hold true and believe in, lives within us. Believe in something hard enough, an apple just might fall out of nowhere, from a tree of life. Don't let anything take your will power away; that's all I can say.
