October's herb of the month is Lilac!

Do you use the herb in your practice? Do you like the smell for perfume, shampoo, conditioner, or soap? Do you like the aestetic of the flower in paintings, on shirts, or calendars? Come here and tell me what this flower means to you!

Oh, lilac is such a lovely herb! I myself haven't used it in my workings, but lilac perfume is the only perfume, really, that doesn't make my asthma act up. Plus, it just smells SOOOOOO good. :) Once I get my ritual room all set up, I plan on using more herbs in my workings, and I definitely can't wait to work with lilac. :D

Candles & Oils: I like using a variety of essential oils to dress candles in or heat in a little oil heater. The thing is, a lot of lilac essential oil is only fragrance. The reason being is is very hard to extract lilac and put it into oil from what I have read. It is still possible, but few and far between as well as more expensive.

I still buy the cheap stuff because magick can work in more ways than one. Like symbolically drawing a picture of fire, using something blue to represent water. It does not always need to be the actual thing. Now think of it used in a love spell. Anointing the candle in your lover/crushes favorite scent. It just needs to be the scent, nobody said it had to be the geniune article to work. Like how you can spritz perfume on a love letter.

Lilacs can symbolize/be used for: Love, innocence, protection, spring, etc.

I like lilac scented things. The flowers lovely looking also. It never occurred to me to work with it like an herb. I hear it's a great essential oil, which makes sense, looking forward to planting some in spring now. Thank you for the new outlook on it...
