I have been doing some fairly extensive research into the different wights, specifically those under the category of Alfar. I plan on writing an in depth article talking about each of the Alfar. However, I have found many different things and have become confused on the Svartalfar, Dokkalfar, Swart Alfs, and Dwarves. Some sources use these interchangeably, where some say they are different. What is you're guys' opinion, I honestly need some help. Are Swart Alfs and the Svartalfar the same? Are Svartalfar and Dokkalfar the same? Is there a difference between them? Are the Dwarves Svartalfar?

The svartalfar and the dokkalfar are the same. Two names for the one race. Though some amount of (lore) goes to show that the dokkalfar were once from Ljosalfheim at one time and things got bad between the dark and light alfar. So the moved to svartalfheim where they had an agreement of a sort with the dwarves. Since the dwarves generally reside below ground the dark elves were "given" the land above to reside. The dwarves were the original svartalfar. Svartalfar and swartalfar being the same name but two spellings. But after both races lived in the land, the dokkalfar took on the name Svartalfar and the dwarves to called the swartalfar to distinguish the two.
Okay, thank you. Now about each's creation. The Dwarves (Swartalfar) were created from the maggots eating their way through Ymir's corpse, yes? Do you know if there are any references as to the the creation of the Dokkalfar (Svartalfar)?

From what I remember the dokk and ljos are both spirits. Like where say other races are people, they are spirits of people. Both are very dangerous in their own ways. Ljos like to trick you. And the dokk like to kidnap you. But the swart are still elves as well though born of the maggots of ymir
