Depends on what you mean by vampire. If you mean the un-dead, that only come out at night, who sleep in a coffin, who drink blood, and can be burnt by daylight, and only destroyed by a stake through the heart. Then that vampire is fiction, written by an Irish author, in his novel "Dracula".

Then you are believing something that is not true! It is a work of fiction. And that's what the word fiction means; that it is not true!

well, all fictions are imaginary works, like visions seen by a writer.
And we REALLY see dreams.
So fiction is real as well. :)

Also, real people buy real books with real words printed from a real printing press with real money. The words in the book also evoke real feelings. Yes, its real in my view.

Actually, you should not neglect the power of words, as they are SPELLings. Dig this, an author eerily 'predicted' the Titanic disaster, 11 years before the event. They also record this in the website related to Titanic.

The entire idea of vampires was the result of the Medieval misunderstanding of the process of death, nothing more. For centuries vampires were viewed as evil, dangerous, and ugly. Then along came Ann Rice and created vampires as glorious, beautiful, and handsome. This was followed up by the role playing game of "Vampire the Masquerade" and then by the "Twilight Movies" and everyone and their kid brother wants to become a vampire.

Vampires do not exist. They are largely these days the product of Hollywood films and fantasy novels. And just because someone imagines them does not make them real in any fashion. Reality and imagination are not the same. There are those who claim to live the vampire lifestyle, but they are essentially role-playing, they aren't really vampires, they are humans like you and me.

You cannot become a vampire through magic, spellwork, or any other means as nothing is going to make you into a mythical creature. You are a normal human and you're going to remain so.

Everything is imagination. You wrote this post because you thought (imagined) this logic. Does it make it any less real?

@ Gabby, there are no physical blood sucking vampires, they are a work of fiction and misconception over centuries. Some people do believe they are astral beings. They would be more like spirits or demons, not physically real, but more of an energy form. Of course the astral hasn't been 100% scientifically proven, so take it as you will.

@ Naloki I will try to be nice, but your 'logic' really baffles me. Vampires are not real. Just because you can imagine a vampire does not make it real. Take a child's imaginary friend, yes, to them this being is real, but physically they are not real. They are not alive, they cannot be seen, felt, or heard by anyone anywhere ever except for the child who imagined the friend. This friend only exists in the confines of the child's imagination. It is not real, it never was real, and never will be real. Simply imagining something doesn't make it so.

Also, people can write anything, doesn't mean they 'predicted' anything either. Nostradamous, a famous fortune teller wrote down hundreds of predictions, but never gave exact dates, only vague descriptions. Over the years his words have been twisted and used by people to fortell disasters that [majority] never happened. Hitler used one when he invaded Paris. Basically the quote read about 'Hister' would come with his armies when Germany ran wild. He never gave a date, even misspelled the name. Vague writing is how one makes predictions. People also have imaginations, they tell tales, sometimes things happen that coincide with the written word, it doesn't mean it was a prediction.

Furthermore, dreams are not real. It is your subconscious creating imaginary scenes as we sleep and the body repairs itself. These are not real, it's the mind entertaining us. All mammals dream. By your logic, if a dog dreamt it's dead sibling were alive, he could wake up and it be true. Visualizing is not the same as doing, it takes effort. You can't just wake up one day and go 'I'm a vampire' because you dreamt it. Life doesn't work that way.
