The way i see it you cant really become a god. I see that a lot of people have already covered this but i wanted to put my 2 cents in as well. I agree with Nekoshema, you can't become a true god but you can be veiwed as one by the people around you. Having massive influence over a mass of people like lets say the pope tried to make people view him as the reincarnation of god. If he tried he could get most of his followers to believe that. What im getting at is that you don't need to be super powerful or whatever to be called a god, you just need to have a lot of influence and be able to manipulate the people you influence.

What we really need to ask is why would I ever want to be a god in the first place! I would have to listen to idiots ask me for things both I and they know they shouldn't have! I'd have to listen to people whine cry and moan when they suffer the consequences of their own actions! I'd have to make an endless list of rules for people to follow! And I'd be tempted to use my powers for retarted things without thinking of how it affects others! My head would swell with ego and then my followers would all hate me!

No thanks!!

To Muxxar - But that doesn't make you a god. It makes you a manipulator and potentially a liar. A god, on the other hand, is something that always was and, in some cases, always will be. Gods, for the most part, have preexisted humanity, even time and space itself in some instances. As beings bound to this universe, we cannot become gods.

To mompower - I'd say that arguably gods are in one way or another, all knowing. Be it a monotheistic perspective or a pantheon of gods, the knowledge held by gods far exceeds what man will ever know. In our human existence we're far too limited to know everything.

Outcast277 - practicing magick does not make one superhuman because magick is a human achievable feat. To be superhuman is to be beyond human, above it, and thus beyond human capability. Also, I don't think it's right to say that worship is necessary for one to be a god. We acknowledge that the gods of older religions are no longer as strongly worshipped. We also see men who have been "worshipped" such as Jim jones, Alexander the Great, Hitler, but none of these men we would honestly call gods.

Joshua spirit - some would argue that we are spirits inhabiting a physical body. A spirit and a god are two separate entities, which is why we separate them. Arguably, spirits were created by gods.

For the most part I'd say that god(s) is/are the source from which all things come from. That which, in one way or another, created everything, including spirits, including humans. So overall I'd say no, in terms of that kind of god, we cannot become one. But in the context of "god amongst men", even this isn't being classified as an actual god, but simply a person who is above all others and seen/treated as such.

Not sure what to say,

Personally i would hate to be a god because everones allways asking and wanting and claiming to be people of god

And other beings all get that too

Me personally would just ask god if he can give me a god like job and maybe he'd find something easy

I've got some powers and really they all hit me too fast I cant cope anymore

..

Also if your god how would you be naturally protected by god, you'd have to be brilliant

Being a God doesn't necessarily mean you are omnipotent, if we are discussing deities then it could be your acknowledged as a God or Goddess in a certain area of expertise, like war or strategy, its a title given by worshipers to a leader. In some religions. It is believed that Gods are reincarnated into a human. Also power of a God comes from the worshipers.

What is your source in saying that gods are "reincarnated as humans"? Since gods are immortal and do not die, how can they be reincarnated?

Well a read it a couple of times in the past, i haven't got a direct source for you to go to, but to me it makes sense, like a god the human spirit or soul is infinite, it can't be destroyed, the spirit itself is consciousness learning and using that knowledge within ones will to manifest it. Who knows, our spirit can even be an extension of a greater consciousness.

I agree with darkked completely. Also, regarding reincarnation and horsing/channeling, a god amongst men could very well be more as well.
