So I had the strangest dream where I basically committed suicide by shooting myself in the face and then after just got up and walked away. Anybody versed enough in this subject to tell me what this could mean?

According to dreammoods, you are saying good bye to your old self and hello to the new you.
Or it could mean that you feel the need to escape your life. Your guilt is leading aggression towards yourself.

Personally I don't believe in dream interpretation or meanig (I believe only if I expect a message in dreams).

But if you believe there is nothing wrong:

Suicide:

If you dream that you suicide, mean a desperate wish for escape from this life. You must try to solve the problems in good maners. The dream can semnificate a new change in your life.

Sources:http://www.visele.ro/cauta.php?vis=Sinucidere is a Romanian site so I don't know if you really understand what says,I traduce in English the meaning ;)

What matters mot is what these things mean to you.

A death to me could represent a new beginning, a turning back on the old and into something new. The face would define my essence- me, my ego. Therefore a death of a part of my personality- meaning I am changing in some way, and I am changing for the better.

The fact it is suicide would suggest that I am changing myself and will be able to get up and walk away from my current situation.

To you, it could mean soething completely different, it could mean something awful. Due to my tradition, my subconscious would speak differently than yours.

To someone else, dreams are just dreams!

So, what are your thoughts? (That's the most important question!)

Umm oky dreams are very common maximum times it have nothing to do with spirit or any meaning... we all see dreams even 3 to 6 times every night but we forget them... so it dont have any meaning but if you are seeing same dream again and again then may be but its rare...
So if its your first time then then there is nothing to bother about..

REM sleep easier way on remembering your dreams and discovering your self!

REM sleep is the dream time, it is normally 20 - 25 per cent of sleep. In the stages of REM sleep the breathing becomes more heavier, irregular and shallow and another thing our eyes also flick in different directions. The first stage of REM sleep only last about 70 - 90 mins each night.
If you wake up during REM sleep, you easily detail pieces and bits of dreams/nightmares REM sleep takes place when your pons in the brain. The pons shuts off neurons in the spinal cord to temporarily paralyse the limbs. This is because youi don't act out your dream(s)/nightmare(s) Some believe that dreams are the Cortex's attempt to interpret and put meanings to new information and experiences.

For the one's who don't know the science terms that are used I have listed them down below.

REM: REM stands for rapid eye movement that occurs when dreaming while asleep.

Pons: part of the brain thats role is to manage regulating sleep, arousal and breathing and coordinating some muscle movements.

Most of this is in my own words. The sources that are use were the guidelines from
