myname,I'm sorry to disappoint you, dear, but your spell did not work! You didn't make it rain.It would have rained anyway.
Nobody, repeat nobody, can control any of the elements.

well my first curse was successful. I wanted to see if it really worked an the only way was to find out on my self, so I cursed my self with a hoodoo poppet and needless to say it was not a pleasant experience, I was sick for weeks with massive headaches and sharp pains all over my body, but it worked well and only took about a day to take affect so that's a plus

I just watched the following video on the power of belief, note that Mr Brown is not a psychic nor believes in any magickal powers.....

The point of the video is, just because you have belief in something, does not make it so...belief can have very real effects on an individual, but in reality they are self-created and do not exist for everyone else.

Interesting video - so if a belief =/= fact, then how do any of us know that anything we're doing has any effect other than in our heads? D:

myname,
It is literally impossible to control weather.
You may call upon deities and ASK for rain, which is different entirley,
but a human can not control weather,
Its the same thing as thinking you can do a spell to turn into a vampire.
You foolishly believe that you can use nothing but the brain (which can not extend to the oustide world to manipulate matierial objects) to control something beyond you power.
Even if it were possible to do such a ludicrous thing, the sheer amount of power needed to complete the task would probably cause major brain damage.

Katze, to quote the title of a Lon DuQuette book. "Low Magick, it's all in your head. You just have no idea how big your head is!".

Magick effects the practitioner, whether or not the practitioner can influence his environment unconsciously after the ritual is another thing entirely.

I definitely agree with that. I'm no seasoned witch, by any means, but I've always held the theory that at the very least, the person performing the spell is achieving something like a placebo. Say, for instance, that the person wants to be happier, so they do a spell for happiness, and by doing that, subconsciously inspire themselves to see things in a more positive light. The spell /was/ effective, but not in the same way that some people would guess. That being said, do you still perform spells, and do you believe there is any room for effects other than those in the subconscious?
