For the newbies, go to forums/ general info/ Starting Out and Basics Expanded are both good. Education is key, then you will understand how magick works. Good luck! Do the homework! lol BB

Welcome!

I would say, start with protection spells. They are very useful and come in handy a lot. Also, remember that you don't need a lot of items to cast a spell. Never feel like you have to get something because a spell called for it. Spells can be modified. You can do sigil magic with just a pen and paper for example.

Welcome to the site. I recommend you go over to the newbie central and also read all the faqs, that way you will gain a better yet simple understanding of the site and magic in general. In addition I wish you the best of luck in your journey.

Welcome to SoM

Read the newbie central first before you do some spells. I might suggest that you can start by making Psi Balls and other basic spells. Remember also to read about the magick rules and the three fold law.

Again, welcome and blessed be.

Ranald,

Greetings and welcome to spells of magic where many have started in their magickal path. I am Ultraios a member who has been among this site for approximately three years and have been practicing magick for about two and a half years.

A good question to ask yourself, "Where do I want to begin?" As the basics are to believed to vary from path to path or belief to belief, however, I advise researching different paths like Vodou, Heathenism, Hinduism, Wicca, Paganism and others to see where your own beliefs stand. After you find what you believe to be the right fit for you, delve deeper into that path and find what it all consists of and what not.

What the general basics are supposedly in more of a somewhat universal point consist of the following:

Will
Intent
Belief
Visualization
Knowledge of how energy works
Understanding of how to apply energy
Meditation

These are just a few things I have recalled from the top of my head and what I have seen others in varies paths speak on. I suggest researching a lot, reading into different things, cross-referencing what you find with other sources.

Regardless what you choose, I suggest knowing it and understanding whatever it is. Also use common sense, intelligence, and maturity when you are deciphering what is fact and fiction.

I hope this helps and I wish you success in your future endeavors.

Sincerely,

Ultarios

Hi I am new here, however I am not new to spells, what I wanted to know is I would like to cast this spell Cry of the Sea Love Symbol but don't have seawater as I do not live near the ocean. Can I make my own using unprocessed sea salt and water?

Thank
