However I am guilty of starting a novel just for fun that is misleading about vampyres(that I don't really plan on getting published one day now that I see this thread), I'd never pick up a fiction novel about vampyres just to read because it would irritate me way too much..

Screw those who believe that being a vampire is all the movies make it out to be...I'd love to murder who ever wrote the twilight series as well...That's all I'm saying.
================

Why? Is it the authors fault that people are too delusional to tell the difference between fiction and reality? I'm going to ignore the whole full vampire half vampire stuff above and rituals to make into a vampire or a werewolf(sigh). Should we smack J.K. Rowling around because she managed to write her way out of welfare and provide for her kids, because she wrote a really good set of novels about Witches, Wizards and other assorted tings too? Because if so, we need to take George Lucas aside because people made the church of Jedi.

That is actually a myth that a select few "vamps" started. I have watched several who have made that claim eat regular foods and be fine, just like any normal person would be. It is possible that there are people who stick to blood most of the time and eat very little otherwise, but I know for a fact that being incapable of eating regular food is not a vampiric trait. Perhaps the side affect of malnutrition and very poor eating habits which may have been led to by an attempted blood diet, but it is not a direct symptom of vampirism.

I agree with you MorionDae, but there is one thing I am not certain about. How can these 'vampire people' survive on blood most of the time? According to scientific research, drinking blood is bad for health and can cause health problems. So how do they survive on blood?

There are medical documents of people who have enlarged cardial glands. These glands help in the breaking down of foods, they provide the stomach with it's acid. The enlarged cardial gland is capable of breaking down more then regular cardial glands, including blood. Vampires generally have enlarged cardial glands, although having an enlarged cardial gland does not necessarily mean you are a vampire. Nor does not having one mean you are not.

Humans can go a month without food and only weeks without water. Many vampires do have certain "blood recipes" they like to stick to, such as my preference of mixing blood with sake'(rice wine) and many people of course enjoy rare meat. A blood diet can be achieved by sticking to these "blood recipes" or, as is very rarely done successfully, by drinking only blood mixed with nothing else.

Generally the people who have a diet primarily made of blood still eat or drink something a little more normal on occasion, even if it is rare meat or just water. Vampires, being human, still need the vitamins and minerals found in meat, fruits and veggies, grain, dairy, etc. All that fun food pyramid stuff. A blood diet is simply adding blood recipes or just plain blood as your primarily consumed food.

I have yet to see anyone stick to a strict diet of just blood. Everyone I have met who would make such a claim has either eaten something within a month of starting the diet or drank something other then blood within the first two weeks.

Something makes me really doubt that the author of twilight really even thought that vampires were real.So to her it was just a fun thing to do.You can't hold that against her.
But I do agree,being a vampire isn't all its cracked up to be.And unless you're absolutely positively sure about becoming one,you shoudn't even consider the thought.

I have to say I am shocked that these threads are ever allowed to go this far.
Honestly, the same questions are asked over and over again, and even for the short amount of time that I have been here, I can see that it's just TIRED.
No, you can't become a werewolf, vampire, fairy, mermaid, or anything else out of your picture books. If everyone could just kindly drop the subject, forever, that would be wonderful.

And now, as I post this, knowing that nothing will change, I am sad.
