Sure we believe. But do so with reality in mind. No one is going to change into a werewolf because they don't exist. Believing one is going to is nonsense. Common sense really comes into play here. This is not the movies, nor tv. This is real life, and you have to accept that certain things don't happen. Also accept that certain things can happen with magick. Just think abut it. Believing is alive and well! BB

Oh we get it. What I'm not certain of is whether you get it.

People here are very harsh on people on this subject because they see it every single day. Eventually it grates on the nerves because they are repeating themselves like a broken record. It isn't that these people do not have belief in magick, it is merely that they are annoyed with the way fiction portrays their very serious practice.

I can understand both sides, the confused newcomers and the frustrated experienced ones. I used to be a frustrated experienced one too, and it did become overwhelming for me and I went off on the boards (like it seems everyone does--Art's turn this week :p).

But I stepped away from it for a short while (as the wise kts suggested) and in that time away I learned to laugh. When even the modern literature on magick is full of watered down to down right inaccurate information (like Silver Ravenwolf and Conway) and fiction is welcoming real myth and magick but contorting it in various ways for the sake of entertainment value, there is no wonder that there is so many out there that are confused.

When people here come off rudely they are met with hostility because that is the way human nature is, we meet hostility with hostility. No one wants to hug someone after they insult them. And it snowballs.

In conclusion, it's no ones fault and it's everyone's fault. Let's just get over it and talk magick. :D

If I don't want to explain something, I just keep my mouth shut. If I have the patience and time at the moment, then I will take the time to explain but I like to explain it in a positive way so that it is absorbed and defenses don't kick up. If the individual is too stubborn to listen, then I let it go. If they believe they know everything than they shouldn't be here asking questions. If they do not like the answers then it only a matter of time before they either learn them on their own or give up on magick.

Everyone can practice magick, like anyone can learn to do anything. But it takes a degree of ambition, humility, and patience that not many have. The experienced ones here become irritated when what they have practiced for 10, 20 or even 60 years is portrayed and seen as something that can be picked up with instant and miraculous success and is something akin to David Copperfield (stage magic) or fairy tales. Bibbity Bobbity Boo! You're pumpkin and mice are now a stagecoach and horses. Take that, fairy godmother. ;)

If everyone approached everyone with more respect, it wouldn't be a problem, but either the asker or the answerer get froggy, and then both sides blow up and nothing good comes from it.

If you agree, ribbit.:p

The way I see it, most spells only work if the energy inside us and the energy in the natural world is equal. There is also the law of equivalent exchange, remember that you can not gain something from nothing. I learned this from years of practicing magic, while mostly everyone on this site has little to no expirience with it. I am a master, and you, are an apprentice.

Even if something is possible through beleif, doesnt always mean its a good idea to do it. Therefore, you will be told it cannot be done. And you yourself must have had doubt or youd never have asked in the first place. Something that seems impossible would surely need stronger intent than that. So...once again. Not possible. Not trying to burst your bubble.

Ribbit.

Actually enjoyed reading this [even the parts where I wanted to hit my head with my phone] true, belief is important, but belief won't change you into a car [see Larks point] I have been practicing for many years, when I started I would follow whatever Raymond Buckland wrote [felt bad about his point on homosexuality but I quietly followed though I didn't agree] a few years later I would follow my pagan friend who was a second generation [and again, I didn't agree with everything but I felt she knew what she was talking about]
My point is you shouldn't listen to other people, eventually you will do some soul searching and follow your own path.

Regarding magick, its very powerful, but it cannot go against nature. Study and figure out for yourself what is real. Until you do, repeating definitions is pointless. Blessed be.
