You could do what I do and try a working meditation (work your body into exhaustion, and focus on your intent, being sleep in this case). As you work your body, you must stay focused on this intent. Ways of working your body include, but are not limited to: jogging in place, practicing martial arts in an open area, push-ups, among other things.

A few things I have done is readjust your bed so that the head of your bed is facing North/feet facing South orientation. Second best is head to South/feet to North, then head to west.. the worst is head facing East. It has to do with the energy and magnetic flow of the Earth. It gets you in sync with the flow.

Make a sleep/bedtime pillow. I would include herbs that have calming, anti-stress and good smelling properties. You can put it on the inside of your pillow case or sow it to the inside of the pillow.

I find that I fall asleep MUCH faster/better if I get in a comfortable position where I can have one of the palms of my hand pressed againgst my forehead/third eye. This is the one that helps me the most by far... it calms my mind ALOT for some reason.

I also take the opportunity to meditate with headphones on playing meditation music or similar music and try to astral travel to talk to beings/energies for advice or ask them to help me sleep.

Have a fan or noise that is consistant that helps you sleep.

A few hours before bed smudge your room with white/ceremony sage.

I think the spell on your bed is a good idea too.

Turn your clock/alarm away from you so you can't look at it all the time.

I keep my room cool... studies show that since your body temp drops when you sleep, a cooler sleeping environment encourages your subconcious to kick your body/mind into sleep mode. I try to stay warmer until about 1/2 hour before its time to go to bed so there is a noticeable temp drop.

Read up on the different herbs that reduces stress, promotes relaxation and induces sleep and made your own custom teas. Write down the recipe for each one as soon as you make it and results the following day stating how well it helped you fall asleep, how you felt when you woke up' how it tasted, any side effects, etc. Soon you will hit on the tea for you. Tweak the tea for best results and taste. This is a multi purpose solution... It creates a subconscious routine to kick your mind/body into sleep mode, Takes your mind off from other things that might keep you up, warms you up just prior to sleep, and it is an activity that puts you in harmony with nature (using herbs). Soon, just preparing your tea will make you drowsy!

Those are some of the things that help me. I have struggled with sleep insomnia for a really long time. I prefer natural methods and herbs but once in a while I take sleeping pills if I have to be sure that I get goof sleep that night. You could try them for a night here and there or try them for a week to get you on the right sleep pattern but don't use them too often or it might make things worse if you try to sleep without them. Only use them as a last resort. OR... you could just read this long, boring reply every night! ;-)

Good luck to ya. Let me know if any of this helps.
