I do not believe that the size of the candle will hurt you, it is the color that is concentrated on, a focal point for your energy. I myself have never had a problem with the size of a candle.
The only precaution I would take for a love spell is to do it in your cast circle, This helps me focus when I am in front of my altar and brings me peace and protection as I cast, it helps me quiet my mind so I can concentrate.
Start when it feels right to you, the phases of the moon only add in amplifying the energy behind the spell. If you feel you should start before then by all means do so, it is your energy that the spell uses.
At least this is my personal experience and opinion, others may have a difference of opinion or experience, but this is how it has worked for me but keep in mind, what works for one may not always work for others.

Hope this helps and Blessed Be.

Alright, that's good to know. Everything you said is really helpful so thanks a lot!

But... I don't have an altar, or a cast circle. I'm just a beginner. What do I need for a circle, is it completely necessary to have?

Go to the article section of the site, this will have what you need, information wise.
There are articles on everything from basic circle casting to candles and the color meanings.

These are just a couple of articles that you can find there:

You may use anything as an altar that you'd like as long as u consecrate it first and even better if u can reserve it for that use only. The only time the size of a candle come into play is regarding how long it needs to burn. And by all means don't forget to anoint your candle before lighting it. If u have any essential oils that match your goal this is best. However u can use any regular oil as well. Think of your desired outcome while anointing the candle. This is called charging the candle. Also do blow out the can
ndle. If u don't have a snuffer then wet your a.Snu

Meant to say do not blow out candle. Use Sniffer or wet thumb and forefinger then pinch wick.

Yes, thank you LadyWisteria great points to bring up.
If anyone else has anything else to add please do so. I only touched on the basic point of the post but I'm sure more information would be appreciated.
Thanks
