Step 1: Acknowledge that fact that Satan exists. (Now, I'm a Christian, and the only reason I believe he's real is because of my theory that everything has an opposite.) Okay, now that that's done, we need to focus on prtecting your friend. If he is serious about cursing her that's REALLY BAD. Why does everybody think that satanists are evil? granted they don't have anything like the wiccan rede,but you know what? nether do i,there are more kinds of magick practitioners then christians,wiccans and satanists,and most satanists don't really believe in the devil ether,just because the worn SATAN is in it does not mean that it has anything to do with christianity or the bible,why don't you people do some actual research instead of just saying that something is what it appears to be at first glance!?!

So the first thing you need to understand is that there are roughly three types of Satanist; Atheistic, Theistic and Casual. Atheistic (mostly LaVeyan) satanists practice a hedonistic philosophy, where Satan is regarded as a metaphor for indulging the selfish 'nature' of humanity. They don't tend to practice magic as rule, and would certainly not threaten summoning a being they don't actually believe exists.
Theistic satanists regard Satan as a being to be worshiped, sometimes under another name or title, Lucifer for example. They would be equally unlikely to threaten summoning Satan, as it would be akin to a Christian saying they're going to conjure God to smite you down; overzealous at best, blasphemous at worst.
Finally, and most likely in my opinion, are casual Satanists, which is to say, not really satanists at all. These are mainly grungy teenage types who burn black candles in their room and listen to heavy metal, a stereotype to be sure, but quite often accurate in my experience. They have very little understanding of Satanism in any form, and base their practice around (mostly incorrect) common knowledge or pop culture, claiming to be a Satanist to shock others.
So basically, your friend's Dad is probably either deranged or lying. Though I would tend towards deranged if he's spouting nonsense about 'having power over witches'.
