how would i join a coven

You go to the groups tab on the top of the page and it takes you to the page with all of the covens. You just look through them until you find one you think you want to join and click apply and then send the coven leaders an application. Just make sure you read the entire coven page so you know what to have on your application.

will there usually be a reply, or just jump right in?

Depends on the coven and the leaders. Some of them will send you a message to let you know if they let you join and some wont say anything at all.

only two covens have ever sent me a message, normally, you click the join button, if it's spell casters you're automatically in, otherwise it might take a bit until the high priest or high priestess logs in, but you;ll know by what's posted on your profile.
