That's a really good point. I hadn't actually done any kind of research on Norse mythology until about five minutes ago, but gods are pretty much always multi-faceted like that. Loki's pretty cool, anyways :D

That's the way all kittens I've had are like.

When my childhood cat was a kitten, he would hide behind things, leap on me, and tackle me to the ground. I was only four so he didn't have much trouble. He would also steal my crayons and I'd find them chewed up under things. He broke so many things. He was a terror.

My most recent kitten experience was one that would steal just about anything he could put his mouth on. He freaked me out once when he grabbed one of my rings and took off. After about five minutes of us both chasing him, my husband caught him and he dropped it. I think he thought it was a game. Only when it was food did he not play. When he would grab food, he would fight for it. He clawed me across the palm of the hand really good once. He was a stray before, so I couldn't blame him for having such instincts.
Needless to say, I chased that cat so many times with a spray bottle full of water, it became a common occurrence. After a while, he liked water!

They calm down when they get older. They're not cats when they're kittens, they're devils! I think the name you picked just suited him well. I don't believe it influenced his behavior.

Try playing with him more to tire him out. My cats favorite was catch (with a thrown rolled up sock). He'd do backflips to catch it! Some like those remote control mice. I don't like laser pointers due to the radiation they give off, so instead with my dog, I use projector pens or a nerf dart gun (its just a strong red light) which runs on AA batteries. Yes, strangely my dog goes wild for chasing light haha!

i dont own a cat but my cousin has one and i helped them with getting things and practice training the kitten. we all live in the same apartment so that kitten see's me often. we originally had a good start, then he became just as wild as his owner (my 8th grader cousin) and would bight when ever i would try to pet him. recently i had dream that the kitten attacked my big toe and i thought it was a sign that i hated cats lol. but the funny thing is the cat was actually nicer to me and would run up to my face and lick my nose (so cute and sandy pappery hehe) he's good about me petting him sometimes but my darn cousin still wrestles with the cat and allows him to chew and bite for fun.

he sounds so wonderful and full of fun, the way a kitten should be. if he's going a bit crazy it's probably because he is so happy that you have rescued him and that he has a new home. he'll probably settle down especially if he is yet to be neurtered. Also introduce him gradually to your other cat so they can get used to each other, keeping him in the same room must be so boring for him. He sounds like he was already mischievous already, cats all have different personalities, that's what makes him wonderful and that is a great name by the way, you should keep it, well done you for rescuing him.

lol, i've noticed animals can take after their names, so choose wisely. i've had 3 cats, Peppermint was a white and orange cat [more white than orange] i named him after a character in a book i liked as a kid. he was rather calm, liked to hide in the cupboards and under stuff like the kitten in the book. Licorice was all black with a white spot on his neck [also named after a character in the book] he was very laid back, loved to just sleep on your lap. my newest cat is a ginger bangle named Gir [named after the robot from invader zim] he's two and a half now and is still acting like a kitten, he'll run around full of energy, is loud, claws all the furniture, bites people, eats ANYTHING [chips, ice cream, potato, cheese, plants, i even have a video of him eating salad] and he's the clumsiest cat i have ever met.

it's nice to hear you adopted your cat, almost all my pets were rescue animals. cats are very interesting creatures. i love all animals, but there's a special place in my heart for cats, they have a lot of personality. plus i like the challenge of training cats over dogs. [i'm strange, i love training animals, taught Gir a few tricks actually]

You guys brought up an idea I had forgotten about. Training your cat, even simple commands like come when called, can help to tame them. But cats are much different than dogs, so do your research and pick up a few good books.

lol, i know. when i trained my dogs it took me a day or two for them to learn sit, lie down, stay. with my cat over two months, and my mom doesn't like treating Gir like that because she thinks it's mean, so i'm having to retrain him every couple of months. different animals, different techniques. like my two dogs, one was a German Sheppard/Golder Lab, and the other was a King Sheppard/Husky/Wolf, to teach them to lie down i would hold a treat in my hand and place it on the ground. the sheppard/lab caught on in about 5 tries. the sheppard/husky/wolf it took about a week, and the first time i tried he spent a goof 5 minutes trying to dig through my hand.

what i've noticed with my cat at least, you need to be more stubborn. if they don't listen, walk away.

I have a big black fluffy cat, who I named Reaper.
I have a fascination with the Grim Reaper. And my husband liked the named also.
And now, that name seems to be really fitting. Somedays Reaper can be the most adorable cat who just wants to cuddle, but other days, he just wants to attack everything in plain sight. I've got a ton of scars and scratches on my arms from him. I honestly don't know what his deal is. He just likes to attack people somedays.
Although, he has calmed down quite a bit since we got our new puppy, Athena. ^_^ We think now he has someone to play with while we're at work. :)
