I use waxing for projects I am working on, or spells that i want to grow and manifest, just as the moon is doing. Full moon is full of her own magic. she is complete. so is whatever you have asked for. the waxing moon I use to get rid of my fears and doubts and rid myself of negative energy. hope that helps! The best way for me to remember waxing and waning is old school. With the wax ON for example good health coming in/ON to your life.
Wax OFF for example clearing OFF/away illness.
and you use your left hand to wax white onto the moon so its waxing, and your right to wax off the white so it is waning :)
Just easier to remember.

I don't think you have to be all that knowledgeable to create your own spell. I think any level can create a spell. I recommended for new students to get an idea on spell casting. What's the difference if someone who doesn't know magick writes a spell and one that has been practicing magick for 10 years? If I do the spell that the person who doesn't know magick it has the same chances of the other. Only YOU can make the spell work. After all this is my own personal belief.
