bluemoon, the same argument is used for dragons. when it comes to dragons there's a couple different theories. my school of thought is they once lived here in the physical. once dragon slayers came around they traveled to the astral where they still dwell. they will come by from time to time in astral form to see if we have changed, but they'll probably forever stay in the astral. similar arguments could be made for many mystical creatures. they are astral beings, most live in the astral, but some stay here. [faeries, demons] it is interesting how so many people have so many stories about the same thing, i'm sure there's theories as to why, as for valid reasons, i don't know.
sorry to interrupt but mermaids do exist look you mermaids the body found on animal planet, youtube, or even on google and watch it it give you complete proof in which mermaids exist.
There might be a chance that mermaids exist because there are still creatures out there that haven't been discovered. If they are real, they aren't those cute, loveable characters but they are devious. It will be a bad idea meeting up with one. The same discussion has happened with Unicorns and Dragons. A unicorn was supposedly found in 2009 and people are STILL debating weather it is a joke or not. Dragons are mostly spirits and sometimes they can communicate with us. For now, mermaids and unicorns can be mythical just just vampires (not phy-vamps) and werewolves

The "unicorn" found in 2009 was a deer with a single horn growing in the middle of its head rather than the standard two. It was simply put, a deformed deer. That happens sometimes in nature. As someone stated above, the mermaid show on the animal planet was a mockumentary...just like the dragon one a few years ago. Many mistook that one as well for a real documentary. I guess they saw some of it and did not see the beginning where they state that its not real. Mermaids, vampires, dragons, werewolves, unicorns...these are not real, they are the stuff of fairy tales and movie fiction.
