If you are a beginner, you should consider buying the Rider-Waite tarot deck first because it's very basic and there are many guides available for it. Once you get better at reading and interpreting the meaningings of the card, you could look into other tarot decks you like. All of the tarot cards have nearly the same representations. But due to the way they are drawn differently in each deck, they can be interpreted slightly differently. So it's better to have a strong foundation and start with a simple tarot deck like the Rider-Waite first. That way, it will become much easier for you to learn how to read new tarot decks in the future.

I personally Hanson-Roberts Tarot Deck. (I own a pocket-size one of these) If you're familiar with Celtic mythology, the Celtic Tarot is great too!

The tarot is one of the things that attracted me to Wicca too.

It is good to chose a deck that really speaks to you. This is one that has art that you connect with or really enjoy as well as you should be able to gleam some symbolism from the card with ease as well. Chosing the right deck is a very personal thing and you might end up going through many different decks before you find the right one. I would suggest googling tarot decks and looking through the types of art that you enjoy so that you have something to go from when out shopping.

Best of luck and happy hunting :)

All what people above mentioned i found very valid and very good as advice .You should kinda feel relation toward this particular deck you have chosen. It should mirrot at least one of your inner aspects ,or to be related with the path you have chosen (if there is any chosen ).Since when we do divination we use certain tools to help us to tap into our subconscious world ,it is good this tools to be reated to it so the connection can be more strong and bring about more positive results .What i recommand is to have a look in this site http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/.
The site lists many decks ,new and old and sometimes they post pictures , reviews and descriptions .Using this site i had found few favorite of mine decks .Have a look on the decks and see which one attracts you the most ,for it is important what you think and feel than what we say is good for us like practicioners in terms of tarot decks .If you like something ,you either can go by gut feeling and purchase it (from whatever source you like ) or either can do thread here to ask folks for their opinions for this particular deck .
Best luck to you finding what is best for you :).Let spirits and your heart guide you on your journey toward yourself and all around .

Some of the most beautiful artwork I've ever seen has been on tarot cards. As a Tarot card collector, I have many decks that I own simply for the artwork and never actually use for tarot card readings.

Some of them are:

The Medieval Scapini Tarot
The Druidcraft Tarot
The Llewellyn Tarot
The Sacred Circle Tarot
Deviant Moon Tarot

You can buy any of them.

they actually sell some at walmart.com, but it can be hard to pick some without going and seeing them face to face
