skiing33.. Your approach Ayurveda medicine is a cultural perspective, which makes it one sided. Now once AGAIN if you would read the post you would have read I know the diet is of importance and what herbs “AID” in weight loss.. Not what herbs are going to cause weight loss. There is no “insult” to ask for general information about herbs that aid in weight loss but what is an insult is someone who presumes! You are presuming the herbs are for my weight loss and not for general information or possibly a family member or friend..

One herb that works great in aiding weight loss is cleavers (aka stick tight). They are hard to confuse with any other herb, and are really good for you to eat. The texture is horrid, but the taste is similar to salad greens or spinach. You can also make a tea of the herb. It is high in vitamins and minerals, and very low in carbohydrates. My mums old herb book says that it is used to "melt the fat off ones hips and abdomen". Adding brewers yeast to your diet can also help with both loss and gain. It is high in nutrients. It will only make you gain if your underweight due to lack of nutrition.

Cinammon, acacia, and blueberries are all great for aiding in weight loss.

Don't rely on herbs completely.. start exercising and eat healthier if you want to lose weight!

Herbs are not the only way to go however. The right combinations of proteins can help reduce hunger, as well as speed up your metabolism and help burn fat faster than normal. Try some 100% Whey protein powder and take some powdered lettuce leaves, and make a smoothie or something drinkable. The cellulose in the lettuce actually takes more energy to digest than it gives you, and protein powder helps curb hunger. They actually work very well together from past experience.

be careful with dandelion root tea undiluted it stimulates the kidneys to clean the blood but sometimes the stimulation is powerful enough to cause intense lower back pain for some hours.

but to your point ginger tea is reputedly able to raise metabolism if drunken warm as well as acting as a generaltonic to balance out your hormones to make losing weight easier.
also sweetgrass tea while having a sweet taste and wonderful vanilla smell staves off hunger for sometime so does peppermint tea for that matter.

Has anyone else tried CLA? http://iherb.com/p/144?at=0&rcode=wem479 I've been using it for a couple months now and so far I like it, I've lost about 7 lbs without doing much at all. I just hope there aren't any side effects.

I've never heard of any herb that helps for weight loss... And I don't know why I never bothered trying when my weight is the one thing bothers me about myself. Especially this past winter I've gained a lot of winter weight and I've been fluctuating between 114-117. Before anyone even says that might be small, to keep note, I'm pretty short, so even the littlest amount of weight I gain, it's very noticeable, I was use to 107-110.

The only thing I know that really helps with energy and metabolism are B-12 vitamin pills. You can purchase them anywhere from Walgreens to Walmart. Just last night I found out that they even give out B-12 injection shots, but you have to go to a certain clinic.

Dont smoke. Very bad for your health. Avoid tobacco. Not sure why that person said that.
