I am not saying that i am not willing to point them in the right direction, i am just saying that i am not going to argue about what they should believe in. I developed my own beliefs on my own, and i feel it is important for them to develop their own beliefs too.
If they want help, they can just ask. I have had people ask me fluffy questions, but i have kindly and calmly told them what is possible, and what is not. To be honest, i am very open about this.

Sincerely,
Scrupulous

It won't go away... I don't think it ever will. So we will learn to deal :/

It's about planting that seed. When enough people stand up and explain that what they are saying is fantastical, even though they may respond with "nuh uh" so to speak, that inkling of "what if?" will be there. It's difficult for some people, especially young ones, to admit they are wrong. But that doesn't mean they won't start noticing what we have said.

That's the way our minds work. I can tell you that when someone lies about a past action, thought, or feeling they look to the left (creative side of their brain) and when they tell the truth, they look to the right (analytical side; remembering). Now you may laugh at me and say it isn't true, what does behavioral psychology know! But then, you'll notice it. You'll watch people's eyes and pay attention to the direction you glance. Eventually, you'll realize that there could be some real truth to my statement. This is what I mean by "the seed". It might not cause an immediate effect, but it grows with the human mind's natural curiousity.

And at the very least, even if they are extremely stubborn. You'll prevent others from taking their word as gold by opposing their notions.

All we need to start making a change is for people to speak up. Yes, new fluffies will come, but when they are challenged by us, they will either wise up or leave. I've noticed most fluffies are gagged as soon as they enter chat, so really its just a matter of keeping the board "authentic" so people don't find us a joke by reading the fluffy posts. The spellbook is already a mess, if the forum goes to the fluffs entirely, what will we have left?

Some of us have continued to do this for ages, and just grew tired of hearing arguments as to why we were wrong. It is good to help show them common sense. But some people have a hard time discerning between "magic" and make believe. If people really want to help, keep posting new relevant information. When more real topics were being discussed, there was a bit less fluff in the forum. I personally gave up writing for the site, when I noticed the fluff garbage was being viewed more by the serious members, then the informative posts were -.-

Light blessings xox :)

Children and young adults are just beginning on their journey, so of course there will be a myriad of people seeking things that aren't real. Blame it on ignorance, the media, people lacking the patience to stand up for their beliefs etc.

I understand all sides to this topic, some think it is a lost cause, other's don't. However it is conflicting for me, because one side of me would jump to say I agree all this blatant naivety and fictional madness is horrid and insulting to my own beliefs and spirituality as well as to others; but then again I know the truth, whether it be a personal truth for me alone, or just the plain hard cold truth. It has been mentioned that regardless of what we say or do, there will always be someone else to come in and start with the fluffy or fantasy fiction role playing.

I am not saying just do nothing, but I know that this problem will never go away, especially not on this website. I myself have gotten tired of replying to post about spells to become a mermaid, vampire, werewolf etc. I still on occasion do. But what really nags me is when I spend days researching a topic, then spending several hours writing a post about it, it gets lost down the list of threads of nonsense and fluff. So you can imagine for myself as well as others, who try, get tired and frustrated with trying to go on.

Another cold fact is that while it is very possible that the fluff and nonsense members and posts can be dealt with, it's not a matter of can't, it's a matter of won't. While for some of us who take our faith, spirituality, studies, and practices seriously our number is very few compared to the majority. With that being said the more members the site has the more revenue and profit is made for the site owner. From ad sales and the online store etc, there is no way the problem we so direly want banished will ever happen. Of course the offset to that is the rules of the site which are enforced while a mod happens to be on, and at their distinct discretion.

The best we can really do, is continue doing what we're doing, that is of course posting what you learn, sharing our opinions on other people's posts, and using our common sense, being able to discern for yourself what is and isn't, what is real and what is not, which are of course personal beliefs and truths for each individual. Especially even when each path, within those paths, to each person they will always be different in some varying way. So I suppose for the select few members who are here to seriously learn or teach,. know and decide for yourself what you want to believe, don't let others tell you and automatically accept so and so as fact. Really I can go on and on about this subject, but really instead of us just discussing it all the time, we should rather just be doing whatever we can to make it better. See suggestions above ^^.

Anyway I empathize and sincerely feel everyone's points and opinions, and I share with you on your frustrations, but now I am tired, and need to sleep.

Blessings and Peace be with everyone,

~Moon

i agree with you, it does get annoying, but i'm not very confrontational, though i have been pushed to the breaking point a few times by fluffies. i simply will point out their misguided and leave it at that. but there have been some who will start mailing me and mailing me and mailing me telling me i'm wrong, they're right, and insulting me, and saying they know more in their few months of study then i have in my years. that's normally when i snap.

i agree with brysing and the other guy (i forgot his name.. lol).. because as i've experienced also (when i was still in search for my higher self) i find magick as harry potter flipping his hand, an anime character who dashes in and out, etc. until one day, i've found out that all of those things are only in my head..

you know, all of us are unique (that's why we are called individuals).. and have different point of views in a thing.. yes we can say that its not the truth or this is the truth but we can't ignore the fact that its really up to them on what kind of journey they would choose and go (either be in fantasy or reality).. don't grow tired of teaching them and telling them what we believe in.. we are here to help and guide and not to control.. if you grow tired (to those who really are sensible) only because of others who are living in their fantasies, and mixing fantasy with magick, what would be the ending line for them? what would be the ending results? if you grow tired and be angry with what they believed in, do you think that it will really guide them for the truth that we are talking here? i'm taking this post CALMLY, PLEASE DON'T MISINTERPRET.. I'M JUST GIVING MY OPINION.. lol..

darkest blessings..

There will always be this tug-o-war between those who are serious about learning magic/the craft/the occult and those who are not. But who decides were these lines are drawn? Who is actually serious and who is not? How do we tell the difference? Hence the never ending constantly changing tug-o-war.

I have seen people who are actually knowledgeable in many aspects of the craft be jumped on for their ideas on a part of the vastly different practices of the craft they might not be fond of. They are bullied in such away that causes them to not what to share again. Some of these people are the ones who would once post in response to the beginner and potentially fluffy stuff trying to help and now they are gone or in less of a mood to share.. Both sides need to remember that tact is key in all social situations

Like all living things magic has evolved, including the way we treat all others who practice it. However just because new ideas can be good does not mean that all old ones are bad. Evolution is a form of balance and learning can only be achieved when respect comes from both the teacher and student.
