This isn't really answering your question, but to put it simply if your of the mind that magick isn't real even the most impossible thing can be written off as a coincidence. This isn't directed at you personally or anything but I'm a very skeptical person and can write a lot of stuff off as coincidence. If it is something you wanted to happen though who cares if it was the result of a spell or coincidence though? :)

You need to know your own personal strengths and weaknesses. You work on your weaknesses slowly, but you can't expect immediate improvement. No one has the ability to be perfect; therefore, it is a lifelong quest of improvement and acceptance in who you are. You must know yourself, be proud of what you can do, and work to grow and develop more. I don't believe that spells that "don't work" have any cause other than your own limitation (be it natural (such as physical laws) or internal). The worst internal limitation is lack of belief in yourself.
