So there is no such thing as a dark circle casting or dark rituals used to empower oneself with the dark energies?

There is only *Magic* no *color magic*

Yes, magic has no colour. Black and White are just used to highlight the differences in intent, but really, there's a rather fine line between the two.

Whoever said it is based on intent and will is correct.

Bare in mind that what one sees as 'black' magic, another may not. Each person has a different perception of things.

Black magic is magic that is considered dark, evil, unfriendly, the opposite of white magic, etc. Many lump curses and other magical casting that are harmful under the heading of black magic. There are many who will say that magic has no color and that it is the intent of the caster that makes it good or bad, black or white and there is some truth to this.

Circle casting is a protective aspect of magic and can be seen as black or white depending on the way in which it is used. Most would say casting a circle around yourself for protection is a good thing. Using a cast circle around another creature to keep it locked in a specific area can be seen as black or white depending on the details of the situation. It really depends on your perspective of the creature and the reasons for the trapping.

If you are looking for regular aspects of magic that are "darker" make your own using items that you consider dark. Perhaps instead of casting a circle with white salt use black salt instead.

Indeed your perception is a big part of it. What might seem evil to you could be a blessing for someone else. The intent and will domineer all aspects of magic. Spells and casting is done with your energy focus will and intent.

I agree that there are a lot of misconceptions because of modern day entertainment, religion also has a hand to play in "black magic"

Indeed Katie is right. I have heard many practitioners use black salt instead, or cast it counter clock wise (which I dont quite entirely understand why)

There is on black or white magic, just poeple whith diffrent intentions on how to use magic. Like energy there is no black or white energy, the only outcome you get with energy is what you intend to do with it.

Okay, like people say, it is not the magic itself that has color, but the intent. Satanism is related to "black magic" in books and by some small minded people, because they view it as bad. In my opinion, the things people call "black magic" are things like curses, hexes or any other way of harming someone or something. Doing something to help someone when they do not want it could be considered a dark intent. Anything that would try to force someone to do something not of their nature, or against there will. Making someone sick. It is basically when you have a negative or undesirable intent in your working, or when a good intent has negative results ;)

Before me Lucifer
Behind me Belzebub

The reason why you are finding opposition in inquiring about "black magick" is because you are looking for the wrong term.

You need to look up what you consider "dark". The crone for instance is a darker aspect of life. Some consider using the power of night, shadow (the absence of light), death, or destruction "dark" when others view it as nothing more than another aspect of nature. Every element has it's darker side. Earth is life giving yet can also be associated with death too. Fire can be passionate and enlightening or aggressive. etc etc...
Of all four seasons, winter is the darkest, not only literally (due to shorter days) but due to the death and slumber that life (plants, insects, and animals) go through during this time. It isn't "bad" and much beauty can be found in it. But to most of history, it is considered a darker time.

In my belief, there is a light and shadow side to everything in nature, and I embrace and work with both. When I cast my circle, I cast it with both energies, as the whole of nature, because I believe that balance is stronger than remaining one sided.

Many people fear the crone aspect of life, therefore they shun it in their practice. I love the crone as much as I love the maiden. I accept the shadow as much as the light in both myself and nature.

Many people are attracted to the darker side of nature yet fear it more. But can be used for both good and bad. Most who do feel comforted by the shadow side are closest to the element of earth or water. This is just from my observation, there are always exceptions.

If you wish to learn about using the shadowed side of nature, then you merely have to investigate the gods and goddesses, nature spirits, the elements, and nature itself. There isn't a book or website out there (that I know of) that specifically defines what you seek. But there are many that explain all aspects and then it is up to you to incorporate them into your spellwork once you fully understand the subject itself.

Hecate, Kali, Hel, and Morrigan stand out in my mind when thinking of the Crone. That should be a good start for you.

Good luck!
I do hope you choose to use both sides. Balance is a wonderful thing.

These are all excelent information, but i will just go with the black salt method.

Instead of using a white candle,i could put the candle on top of a skull or try to make it look more sinister.
